I've noticed that it seems like when I hit a character with a turnip from like way across the stage, maybe platform to platform, that the turnip does more damage and/or knockback. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

Do Peach's turnips do more damage over a greater distance?

Distance traveled will not make a turnip do more damage (AFAIK).
However, a smash throw will make a turnip travel further and inflict more damage vs. a regular turnip. Also a dash throw is slower but has more knockback and damage. The turnip guide may also be helpful for you.

To my knowledge, the distance a turnip travels only matters if it's z-dropped.
