Every time i play peach against sheik I seem to get down thrown or tilted into multiple tilts that I can't seem to get out of, or that result in an aerial that puts me in a negative position. So, my question is what is the best way to DI the initial tilt or down throw?

down and away, always. if she is facing left and using her tilt and you are to the left of her, youd move your analog stick to the SW position on the 8 'points' that surround it

does down even do anything? doesn't the tilt normally send you straight up? if so only the horizontal portion of your DI would have any effect

the tilt sends you up and to the left (if shes facing left and you are on her left)
the down direction helps maximize the horizontal distance you move away from her. even if the knockback is mostly up. it depends on the hitboxes too. if she sends you straight up then adjust your DI accordingly
