Pulse | Vayseth and GG | Dogma proudly present the Gamer's Gauntlet Circuit Championship for Super Smash Brothers for Wii U!

Oh, did I mention... it's Christmas Time! What would Christmas be without... GIFTS?? Gifts will make his long awaited return to the GGSS!

Location:
Gamer’s Gauntlet
20564 Hall Rd
Clinton Township, MI 48038
586.412.6677
www.GamersGauntlet.net

Schedule:

10:00 AM – Venue Opens; Registration for all events

12 PM – Wii U Doubles ($10 per team, $5 per player)

2 PM – Wii U Singles ($5 per player)

-- WAVE 1 of SINGLES POOLS will run at 2:30 pm
-- WAVE 2 of SINGLES POOLS will run at 4:30 pm

10 PM – Venue Closes (Tear Down at approximately 9:30 PM)

Entry

Venue Fee: $10*

Doubles: $10 per team ($5 per player)

Singles: $5 per player

TOP 16 CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT: FREE FOR COMPETITORS

TOP 16 CHAMPIONSHIP FANTASY BRACKET: $5

*$5 of the Venue Fee will be refunded to anyone bringing a full setup who stays for the entire event. A full setup is defined as a TV or Monitor and a Wii U with a copy of Smash 4 with all characters and legal stages unlocked (Wii U systems must also have the GC Controller adapter and all DLC Characters and Stages available). Fee will not be refunded if someone brings a setup for doubles and leaves before singles starts. This only applies if we officially use your setup for tournament use. All non-spectators must pay this venue fee (spectators are those who only watch and do not enter any of the tournaments or play friendlies/money matches).

We here at Gamer's Gauntlet believe in 100% transparency behind all of our decisions and want to keep everyone up to date with this sudden increase in venue fee.

This will be the first tournament in the history of the Gamer's Gauntlet Smash Series to be LIVE STREAMED, brought to you by the wonderful MI-based streaming powerhouse GOOSHI GAMING.

Gooshi Gaming Twitch Channel
Gooshi Gaming Youtube Channel
Gooshi Gaming Facebook Page
Gooshi Gaming Twitter

In order to satisfy the venue's fee AND pay for Gooshi we had to increase the venue fee. That is also why you will only get back $5 of the venue this time because that was the established rule set by the venue. Any extra money brought in after Gooshi Gaming's fee has been satisfied will...

GO DIRECTLY INTO THE TOP 16 CHAMPIONSHIP POT

That's right! All any money that is left over will not go to the venue, Gooshi Gaming or the TOs. It will all flow into the Top 16 Championship Prize Pool in order to make this as hype as possible! We already have over $300 raised for the championship and with this we can really give back to those who have worked hard to get into the championship. I hope you all understand this decision and make the effort to come out and support Gooshi Gaming, Gamer's Gauntlet, and most of all our Top 16 Competitors.

Set Procedure and Code of Conduct
Set Procedure
1. Player Priority is determined if it cannot be agreed on. (See below for details)

2. Each Team selects one controller port to use for each Player.

3. Each Team selects one character for each Player. A double blind pick may be called by any player.

4. The first game is played on a Stage selected from the Starter Stage List either by mutual consent or through the Stage Striking Method.

5. The first match is played.

6. The team that lost the previous match may opt to re-pick controller ports (with themselves picking first).

7. The Team that won the previous match may announce any “Stage Ban” if they have not already done so in this set.

8. The Team that lost the previous match announces the stage for the next match from either the Starter or the Counterpick Stage List. Any Stage named as a “Stage Ban” by the either Team may not be selected. No Stage may be used by a Team that has already just won on that Stage in this set.

9. The Team that won the previous match chooses one character for each Player.

10. The Team that lost the previous match chooses one character for each Player.

11. The next match is played.

12. Repeat steps 6-11 for all proceeding matches.

DETERMINING PLAYER PRIORITY
If there is a dispute in controller port selection or initiating Stage Strike use the following method:

Teams agree to Rock-Paper-Scissors, otherwise it is determined with a coin-flip. The winning Team shall either elect to have first choice in port selection or first choice in Stage Strike. Whichever Team does not receive first choice in Port Selection will be compensated with first choice in Stage Striking.

Note: In Doubles, port selection is ordered 1-2-2-1 fashion (with Team-1 having first choice in controller slot select, Team-2 having both second and third choice, and the final slot going to Team-1).

Conduct Rules
1.BYOC (Bring your own controller): Players are expected to bring their own controller and be prepared for every tournament set.

2. Pause can be requested off and that request cannot be denied. If one pauses mid-match, the person who initiated the pause loses their current stock. If the pause causes the opponent to lose their stock (Such as interfering with recovery), the person who initiated the pause loses two stocks.

3. Players who use wireless controllers must take the batteries out of the Wii Remote when not playing. If a wireless controller is still synced up to a system with the batteries in, you could unintentionally disrupt a match. If problems persist, a DQ may happen.

4.You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility (including battery issues with a wireless controller), so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you’re using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. Both parties need to agree if a match is to be paused or restarted because of these problems.

5.Intentional forfeiting, match fixing, splitting, and any other forms of bracket manipulation are not allowed and punishable by the TO.

6.No substitutions are allowed for singles or doubles.

7.Coaching is allowed only between games, not during. Failure to adhere to this will lead to punishment at the TO’s discretion, which could include the removal from the venue.

8.DQ Rule: Arriving too late for a match will result in a DQ. Player(s) will have 5 minutes to show up before a loss of the first match. 5 more minutes results in a loss of the set. For doubles, both players on a team need to be present in order to play.

9.The tournament organizer has the right to save/record any tournament match if possible and has the right to upload said match.

10.Regarding textures and other game hacks (PM ONLY):

* Custom music is allowed as long as it’s not too distracting, but any textures or vertex hacks outside of the official team color textures are not.

* If you want to use your own SD card, a TO must overwrite the important game files (not music) in order to make sure there are no modifications. If you are caught cheating with modified game files, you will be immediately DQed without refund and banned from future events.

11. Disrupting your opponent physically or intending to disrupt their play (through something such as screaming in a player’s ear) will result in a warning. Repeated action will result in disqualification from the tournament and possibly ejection from the venue. Observers who physically disrupt players are to be dealt with as the Tournament Organizer sees fit. Disqualification is recommended if possible, and ejection from the venue is also a punishment.

* These rules are subject to change leading up to the event date. The Tournament Organizer reserves the right to remove you from the venue at his discretion for any reason.

* The Tournament Organizer and his assistants, and any persons helping run the event may not be held liable for any lost, stolen, or damaged goods during this event. Nor will the Tournament Organizer, the venue, its owners, affiliates, employees, members, sponsors, or volunteers be held liable or responsible for any injury or harm that may befall a person during the course of this event. By entering the venue during the posted date you are displaying your agreement with this policy.

Super Smash Bros for Wii U Ruleset
All GGSS Smash 4 Events (unless otherwise specified) will use the Official Ruleset for SE.MI Smash 4 Tournaments.

For full description of the rules, please refer to the SE.MI Smash 4 Rule Set.

There will be a cheat sheet available at every station at the event to summarize the rules so they are clear to everyone. If you have any questions please contact a TO for full details.

The TOP 16 CIRCUIT CHAMPIONSHIP
DETAILS:
For the uninitiated, since May 2015 the GGSS has been running circuit events (7 in total) where players were given points based on a variety of factors. Players received 2 "Entry Points" just for showing up, 1 "Pools Point" per set win in pools at each event, and anywhere from 3 to 30 "Bracket Points" for placing in the Top 32 Bracket. Over the last seven months those points have been recorded and given us our TOP 16 CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKET:
  1. Smasher1001
  2. Chris
  3. Ksev
  4. Pulse | LOE1
  5. JKBUK *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  6. WADDLE
  7. KC *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  8. Hyper Crasher *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  9. Shockwave | LouRich
  10. Swanky *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  11. Nebula
  12. Pulse | Technology *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  13. Nom *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  14. Runes
  15. Mikey Lenetia *ATTENDANCE CONFIRMED*
  16. $w@gnemite
RULES:
  1. Players are seeded by the standings. The 1st ranked player will play the 16th ranked player, the 2nd ranked player will play the 15th ranked player, and so on.
  2. SINGLE ELIMINATION
  3. Best 3 out of 5 Sets
  4. 2 Stock; 6 Minute Timer
  5. Game Rules will follow the SE.MI Smash 4 Ruleset
  6. Stage List will be the current Stage List in the SE.MI Smash 4 Ruleset
  7. The higher seeded player will choose the starting stage in all sets. No stage striking
  8. There will be *NO* stage bans
PAYOUTS:
Funding for the Top 16 Championship Bracket comes specifically from all of the fundraising side events we have done throughout the circuit events. Additional funding on the day of the tournament will come from the extra venue fees collected after paying the venue and the streamer. The pot will likely be over $400. *ALL* players will walk away with a percentage of the final prize pool as follows:
  • 16th (8 players): 2.5%
  • 8th (4 players): 5%
  • 4th (2 players): 7.5%
  • 2nd (1 player): 15%
  • 1st (1 player): 30%
SPECTATOR FANTASY BRACKET ($5 Entry):
A complaint common of all the circuit events has been the amount of time players have needed to wait to play during the pools phase. To circumvent that the Top 16 Championship will be live streamed during pools and spectators will be given high level hype matches to watch and cheer for. In addition, for those who love fantasy sports, we will be offering players to fill out a Top 16 Championship Bracket with a $5 buy in. The Top 16 has until Monday, December 7th to confirm their attendance so the bracket will be known to all by then. Players can print off their brackets and fill them out at home or turn them in by the time Wave 1 of pools starts. The rules are as follows:
  1. Competitors in the Top 16 Bracket and Tournament Organizers MAY NOT participate in the Fantasy Bracket.
  2. To enter you must have paid the venue fee.
  3. ....MORE TO COME
Details on how the brackets will be scored, how paying out works, and how tie breakers will be settled will be posted here shortly. I need to confirm with some of my Fantasy players and commissioners about the best way to score and pay out. This information will be available by the attendance deadline of Monday, December 7th.

This message has been added under the explaination of the increased venue fee portion of the OP:

*NEW* Gamer's Gauntlet is sponsoring door prizes!

Everyone who pays the $10 venue fee will be entered into a raffle and be given *FREE* Nintendo-themed goods courtesy of the venue. There's always more bang for your buck at the Gauntlet.

It's a card shop so I am assuming boxes and mats and the like. No controllers or anything like that but I might be able to donate some of my amiibo to the cause.

Do you need a gamecube controller to play or can you use anything? I use a nunchuk
Thank you for your interest in the tournament! This will be a large local tournament but I do not expect the amount of people to reach dangerously towards the 200s so a blanket ban of wireless controllers is unnecessary. The only controller I ask you do not use is the Wii U Game Pad due to the inability for two Wii U Game Pad players to be able to play against each other if per chance they were to be matched up.

Please consult rules 3 and 4 in our conduct policy RE: Wireless Controllers. I have copied the text for you below but it is listed in the OP:

The Original Post's Set Procedure and Code of Conduct said:
