Created by Picano and Jack H. (yours truly), we've finished after weeks of effort, and are proud to announce the release of BrawlVault: The Largest Brawl Hacking Repository on the net.

Superseding our already largest collection of Hacks, namely the KittyCorp: MeowMix Gallery, we've imported the entire Gallery, and expect BrawlVault to explode with new creations from everyone. It now supports much, much more than just textures for characters and stages.

A few features include:
  • Advanced Searching
  • Automatic Submission System
  • Safe Search
  • Simplistic Navigation
  • Live Changes
  • Accepts all kinds of hacks created
  • And much more

Suggested Ideas that have been Implemented
  • Accomodations for "Character Imports," and "Stage Imports" on the visual navigation system and submission process. [Thanks Matteron]
  • All submissions are now sortable by download count for easy sifting for the popular items. [Popular Request]
  • KC:MM Forums now have a "BrawlVault" icon under your avatar for easy linking to that person's hacks within the Vault. [Bonus]
  • Audio section now auto-sorts by Source, and then by Name. [Thanks Vyse]
  • Mouse-over text has been added to the image navigation icons. [Thanks Moosehunter]
  • Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 are now separate links. [Thanks The_Guide]

3/29 - Update: The homepage to brawlvault is now 10x more homely; displays statistics regarding the entire Vault.
+ Other minor bug fixes have now been performed.

Hit the link, and submit your own creations while watching them go live immediately.

http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php

UPDATE 4/14

Well, we've added a few major updates to BrawlVault, most of them being requests from the users. It's at version 1.9a at this point. V2.0 is being released later this week, and can be beta tested if users which to bug hunt.

V2.0 includes in-line page loading so that when browsing, the entire page doesn't reload, but only the content area that you're surfing your hacks inside of. Cuts page loading down, as well as makes browsing much, much quicker and more efficient. Not to mention it saves Dantarion his self-proclaimed awesome bandwidth. ;)

Also added to the Vault, is a "Resources" repository, which neatly consists of all the major programs required for hacking any brawl task. See below for an example image.

Click the image to go to the BrawlVault Resources repository yourself and take a look. If you notice anything outdated, or think there's a fully functioning program that's missing from the mix, report it via the link at the bottom.

-----------------------

A few smaller images are below, but the real creativity is most exellently expressed within the official YouTube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsi9YWpxDWA

Enjoy.

Yay
Also, just wondering you do accept model imports on stages right?
Yes, imports are supported. As of current, you'll be able to find model imports easily via the advanced search. After they climb in more stability (namely the characters here), we'll add official icons within the image navigation to accommodate for it.

To be brutally honest, I find these collection things KCMM keeps making to be pretty stupid. Noobs (because I don't think I can say newf*gs here, correct me if I'm wrong), think KCMM made thier work from all the KCMM affiliation, and I'd rather just post my own texture here if I was indie or to my texture team if I wasn't.

Thanks Neon! :) (innactive member of StackSmash)

I'm not a part of StackSmash anymore nor do I make textures or PSAs.

Indie devs hope to get noticed and become popular among the texture scene, and having KCMM seem to get the credit just isn't fair.

I noticed that the 3 options when submitting a stage are Model, Texture, and Import. I'm adding a few stages with swapped backgrounds; would you consider that an import? I assumed that by import you had in mind things imported from non-Brawl games, but the options are kind of vague and don't really cover this.

Our intended usage for the "imported" section was for purely all-new imports (like Rainbow Road from Mario Kart Wii, and Naruto's stages, etc).

The model section is most likely what you're after. This deals with changes done to the level itself, including the swapping of items within the Brawl disc itself.

Good question. We'll be sure to clarify that on BrawlVault promptly.

Bahaha...was just about to start plans for this exact thing, tonight. Well done. It looks great. It's could use a few graphical tweaks here and there but very nice.
Any chance of a rating system?...or sort by downloads?

Also where would you put completely custom stages?

Hmm... I've been working on a music hosting site that would work better for music than the way brawlVault is set up. You upload your brstm files to the server and it creates a preview mp3 and hosts them all from that server among other things. It should be done soonish since spring break's over and i've finished all my scholarship applications for now. Hope I can remember where I left off 2 1/2 weeks ago :p

And I would like to point out the easily spamable download count. Though there's probably not much you can do about it because that would require either hosting the files yourself, or tracking each download's IP

And you might want to add some alt text on some of the images. It's not that obvious that tabuu leads to boss textures

Anyway, It's about time something like this appeared.

What do you mean by exactly custom?
hmmm...
2D Stages maybe? Mewtwo, for example, is working on Mushroom Kindom 64, Fourside, Fountian of Dreams. Many others have made stages that aren't simple modifications to an existing stage. I mean, of course they are modifications of an existing stage but the end result is completely different from the original. Where would those go?

-Rating system is being sorted out, glad you also thought it would be useful.
-Sort by downloads is a little tricky, but we'll implement it.
-Currently, stage submissions organized as such:

"Model": Any edits to a stage model-wise. Be it large or small.

"Import": Completely new. Not even from Brawl. Naruto's stages, and Mario Kart Wii Rainbow Road, etc. (We don't have a visual navigation button for this yet, but will implement this soon as well. Glad you caught it.)

And I would like to point out the easily spamable download count. Though there's probably not much you can do about it because that would require either hosting the files yourself, or tracking each download's IP
Submissions are tied to each member's forum account. If we see an explosion of downloads that looks out of the ordinary, you're first of all: ruining the reason there's a download count. And secondly: running the risk of getting banned from the forums, and basically from BrawlVault as a whole. No worries, we have this under control.

And you might want to add some alt text on some of the images. It's not that obvious that tabuu leads to boss textures
We ommited the text on the stages area because of the amount of space that it takes up. We'll consider text on each image, but outside of the image's squares, we're looking at a remarkable space-eater. Do you think it would be wise to move the less obvious ones to the Misc. section? We support text there, because they're NOT as obvious.

We don't host anything ourselves, because we respect Dantarion for hosting us. However, we wouldn't hesitate to nab your assistance in setting up the audio section to work in a fashion that is most acceptable to you and everyone else. In it's current state, it's pretty acceptable, considering most people already have their songs uploaded somewhere, and merely have to copy that link to BrawlVault to submit it. You come up with a method that allows for off-site hosting, as well as live embeded mp3 previewing, then let's talk. :)

Yeah I'm not to fond of the KC-MM music section.
We would appreciate a few suggestions to make it perfectly acceptable for you and everyone. Any thoughts?

Maybe you could make it into smaller tables/text like in the custom music hub? And having the option to expand the description like in YouTube is good. Last, maybe you should put the looping quality indicator as well.

Good.

Question: Would NEW (totally new, like models) characters go in the Misc section? It would be AMAZING if we could get a CSP and a section just for that new character, if they're QUALIFIED enough for it. Maybe make a collapsible tab holding all of the new characters. Small model changes wouldn't be qualified for it, and I think vertex hacks wouldn't be either.

I'm not talking about putting the text on the actual image. I was saying that you should put some html alt-text on each image so that when somebody hovers over the image a little text box pops up telling them what it is.

This looks pretty cool. I'll upload whatever I make onto Brawl Vault too.

I'm pretty sure other have said this, but I agree that it would be better if the comments box was made smaller and scrollable/expandable. I think it takes up a bit too much space and spreads out the entries too much.

Once the interface is polished up a bit more and we can rate stuff this should be awesome. Good job so far, and good luck with it.

I'm pretty sure what he meant by alt-text is hovering your mouse over an image and having text pop up. It's a basic HTML feature. <img alt="This text comes up when you hover over this image">

Edit: curse my computer's refusal to cooperate with this forum

Couple questions:

A) If I revamped my textures later, is it possible to overwrite the original submission with the revamped one? Would it require an entirely new submission?
B) Do I just put the thumbnail links (HTML formatted) in the Info Text box?

Thanks for this, it's a fantastic resource.

What is "Type=Stage%Menu%" for? What goes there?

How will we know if a CSP is included? Maybe a checkbox/dropdown for weather or not a CSP is included, while submitting? Or even an area for people to add there custom CSPs?

Should "Type=Misc%WiFi%20Room" simply be under stages?

You have Strap Menu, why not Custom Main Menu?

I applaud your efforts. Can't wait to check it out. I've been out of the loop lately, didn't even notice that there was a Melee FD texture until recently, lol.

I don't know about your second question, but you're able to edit your submissions later, so you don't have to submit a new entry for an update of an old one.

The comments box is already scrollable. We'll consider making it expandable - but since nothing else is taking up that space anyway, it seems slightly redundant to make it expand as well. (If I'm understanding what you mean by "expand")

-As was already stated by Hozu, you are easily able to edit your submissions for further revision later.
-For the thumbnail views... I'm not going to sugarcoat my answer here. Watch the Youtube Video, or try it out yourself. It's REALLY self explanatory. ;D You only need the direct link. It will make thumbnails for you! :D

Quick note: The PS1 link takes you to the PS2 link in the stages bar.

You'll probably want to fix that, unless you plan to group the two stages together.

For now, completely "imported" characters are welcome to the misc section, or the characters section. We're developing a completely separate "imports" section for the characters, as well as the stages to accommodate for the new creations that aren't even a part of brawl at all.

And you're right, they will eventually deserve their own character csp on BrawlVault. We are looking for an initial 10 completely finalized and balanced imports before we do that. Good idea though, we're ready to evolve it when it's ready.
