NOTE: We are trying out a new venue! We will be in the University Center, room 306. The UC is the big building on the intersection between Rowe St and College Ave.

University of Mary Washington Smash Club has started hosting Smash Bi-weeklies! Anyone (don't have to be a student of the university) is welcome to enter or just watch/play friendlies. Registration takes place at the event. All skill levels are welcome. It is a double elimination bracket which means you have to lose two sets to be eliminated.

$3 entry fee for Melee Singles. $4 per team for Melee Doubles. 0$ venue fee!

I really want to merge the UMW smash community with the Fredericksburg smash community since we're so small. If you can bring a CRT set up that would be much appreciated, we have enough but the more setups the more friendlies we can run.

Let me know if you have any questions!

General Rules
1. Items are set to Off and None.
2. Stock and Time are set to 4 stock and 8 minutes respectively.
3. Sets are Best of 3 matches, with the exception of Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals, which are Best of 5. Winner of match bans 1 stage in a Best of 3. There are no stage bans in a Best of 5.
4. Blind Picks: the first character selection of a set must be without prior knowledge of the opponent's character selection for both players.
5. Modified Dave's Stupid Rule (MDSR): No player can counterpick a stage he/she has previously won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
6. Gentleman's clause: any stage may be played on so long as both players and the TO agree to it, including banned stages.
7. All infinites must end before 300% or they become stalling. Wobbling is legal as long as it ends before 300%.
8. Excessive stalling is banned.
9. Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of stocks, then percentage of the current stock.

Yes. You can pick between all 6 stages in game 2/3, except for the banned stage and a stage you won on already in the set, unless your opponent agrees to playing on that stage again.

We had 16 entrants last week, by the way! Not bad for a second bi-weekly, but I know we can get more (and hell, we have space for a lot more.)

28 entrants for Melee singles and 13 Melee doubles teams last week, wow! Our last of the semester bi-weekly will be this SATURDAY, December 5th. Notice that this event will not be on a Sunday as they have in the past due to us having finals week start next week.

I'll see you all there!

Are these still going on? I'm assuming there was just a break yesterday, will there be a tournament here anytime soon?
