LATEST NEW STAGES: Battlefield U (3.6 Wifi-safe) (Modulous)
75m Omega (Modulous)

LAST UPDATED: Great Bay M (Modulous)

Welcome everyone! From here on out I will post all my balanced stages (and any other Brawl hacks I make) here as they are released! First, some things to note:
  1. I currently only make balanced versions of pre-existing stages (which includes custom stages built by others), as I am still learning how to use 3dsmax, and therefore can't create models from scratch.
  2. I do take requests, but I will not take every request, just the ones I wish to take (and feel I can successfully create with the tools/skills I have).
  3. Feel completely free to use any of my stages in your build, but please do not place the individual stages up for download again, or try to claim these as your work. (Also, credit in a readme or something along those lines would certainly be appreciated)
  4. Also feel free to make edits of my edits and post them to brawlvault or the like, just be sure to credit or collab me in them.
  5. All stage downloads come with corresponding SSS icons. Whoops, 3.6 happened and everything became difficult.
  6. I do not claim to be perfect at this (mostly because I'm not). I try to fully bug test stages prior to release, but I could easily miss one or two. If you find any bugs or issue in any stage I made, please tell me in this thread. Update list is found at the bottom of this post.
  7. Any other feedback (positive or negative) is appreciated as well!
Anyway, with all that out of the way, I give to you my current list of Project M balanced stages:

75m Omega (Modulous)

An import from Super Smash Bros. For Wii U. Includes animated Fireballs, animated Donkey Kong, and full shadows.

Size, spawns, and blastzones are the same as P:M 3.6 FD, though it is not wi-fi safe due to edited collisions

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Battlefield 64 M (Modulous)

A rebalance of Battlefield 64, fixing the jank undersides of the stage.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Battlefield U 3.6 (Modulous)

A P:M Wifi-safe version of Wii U Battlefield.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Brawl Final Destination

A very simple edit. Final Destination from Super Smash Bros Brawl with the Project M 3.0 camera, as well as spawn/respawn locations and death boundaries from the P:M Final Destination. The small ceilings on the side of the stage no longer cancel vertical momentum (one of the main reasons P:M uses the Melee FD), allowing for a more balanced stage.

Explanatory Screenshot:

Casino Night Zone M

Very loosely based off a stage from Super Smash Flash 2, the Casino Night Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has arrived as a fully balanced stage for Project M 3.02! The download includes two versions of the stage. The first one has a moving platform above the stage (first screenshot, think Smashville), and works well as a starter stage. The second version has the same moving platform below the stage (second screenshot, think Peach's Castle in SSB64) and works best as a counter-pick. Neither of these versions are Wi-Fi safe over any stage.

In-game screenshots:

Video Footage:

Castle Siege M (Modulous)

A rebalance of Brawl's Castle Siege. Includes Red/Blue and Day/Twilight versions.

In-game screenshot (Day, Blue):

Video Footage (Twilight, Blue):

Cookie Country M

A rebalance of a Kirby stage from BrawlVault, as per a request. Simple layout, two platforms. Optimized to work with 3.5+ borderless Stamina mode.

Dr. Wily's Castle M (Super Smash Land)

From the fan game Super Smash Land, comes a newly balanced and enhanced stage that you may know: Dr. Wily's Castle from the Megaman series! Though no characters from Megaman are currently in Project M, and likely won't be (PMBR said no new Smash 4 characters), this is still a very fun stage to play on. The turret was moved into the background, and the tiny ledge on the side was removed. The stage is most certainly intended for 1v1, as it is rather small. The clouds in the background are animated, which makes the stage seem much less static. The best part? No annoying black borders surrounding the stage!

I might make a colored NES version at some point.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Fourside M

Featuring Town and City-esque moving platforms, or a two-tiered system of platforms.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Gerudo Valley M (Modulous)

A competitive overhaul of the Smash 3DS Gerudo Valley stage, with some aesthetic improvements over the original as well. Includes 7 versions:
  • Battlefield Layout (Shown in screenshot and video)
  • Inverse Battlefield
  • Two Low Platforms
  • Two High Platforms
  • High Left, Low Right Platform
  • Low Left, High Right Platform
  • Improved Omega
All of the different versions go over Skyworld by default, have Project M 3.6 camera, and work fully with Borderless Stamina mode. Rels are included for use over Bridge of Eldin, Temple, Pirate Ship, or Hanenbow.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Great Bay M (Modulous)

A competitive version of Melee's Great Bay made originally as part of Project M XP.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Green Greens SD Remix

A stage from a balance hack of Melee, now without randomly dropping apples. Though I did see a version without apples in someone's pack a while ago, it bugged me due to the fact that it would activate wind once or twice before the tree would shake repeatedly forever. This version does not have that issue, and the Whispy Woods will do what it does best until the match's end. I used Mewtwo2000's Dream Greens (N64 Dream Land with the appearance of Green Greens) as a base, so it won't ever drop apples. This stage should be able to be used without the wind if placed over Battlefield.

How to Play - Remastered

A stage that was originally the title demo from SSB64, rebalanced and remastered! The original playable version of the stage had a couple problems to me. The two major problems I had were that a) the spawns were WAY too close together and b) when fighters were knocked back at certain angles you could see behind the background. I guess I decided that fixing those two things was just too easy, and one thing led to another before I had remade the entire thing with new assets; the majority being from Mewtwo2000's Dream Greens, and the platforms from Theytah's Revived Dreamland. I also made versions with two platforms, a single platform on either side, or no platforms whatsoever. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Icicle Mountain M (Modulous)

A complete competitive revamp of Icicle Mountain (Melee).

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Infinite Glacier M (Modulous)

A basic edit of Project M's Infinite Glacier stage. The middle platform doesn't drop, the moving platform is unbreakable, and the stage transition is removed. There are four versions included, versions with or without the slippery ice effect on the stage and versions with or without the cloud platforms present in the original version of the stage.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Jungle Japes M

Descriptions. I'll get around to these eventually.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Kalos League (Non-Transforming) (Modulous)

The different forms of Smash 4's Kalos League as separate stages. Also included are a version based on the steel form of Kalos League M, and a version of the Fire transformation which removes the fire pillars.

In-game screenshots:

Kalos League M (Modulous)

A competitive overhaul of Smash 4's Kalos League, while keeping the unique transformations. The only majorly changed transformation is the steel one, though there are minor improvements around the board.

In-game screenshot (Steel Form):

Video Footage:

Luigi's Mansion M

My first stage edit, oh the memories! It remains as one of my personal favorite stages that I've done so far.

The original stage from vBrawl has done a complete 180, going from being one oddity of a stage to being one that can actually be played competitively! The middle platforms were removed, the side platforms are now fall-through and no longer have ceilings, and, most importantly, the pillars which blocked so many attacks and projectiles have been thrown out the window! Despite what Brawl wanted you to believe, the house can apparently stand without them anyway.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Metal Cavern M (3.6) (Modulous)

HD rebalance of Metal Cavern based on the 3.6 version.
Includes P:M 3.6 FD-sized Omega form.

Metal Cavern M (64) (Modulous)

SD rebalance of Metal Cavern based on the 64 version.
Includes P:M 3.6 FD-sized Omega form.

New Pork City M

New Pork City. What can be said about New Pork City? It is perhaps the most hated stage in Smash Bros. history, the original New Pork City boasted an absurdly large size, massive gaps between platforms, and those despicable Ultimate Chimeras. Now, with a firm basis in Brawl - 3.5's New Pork City -, I have released a (mostly) fair version. It includes a classic view of New Pork City, with none of the bullcrap!

The main stage is two pieces together, but there are no gaps, allowing for a constant dash across the stage. The stage also has one single pass-through platform off to the left, which combined with the slight slopes gives an interesting dynamic to the stage. Includes 3.0 camera and all necessary stage icons. Goes over Battlefield with no .rel file, but there are included files to port it over Fourside/New Pork or a Custom stage slot.

There is one thing I dislike about my version of this stage, and that is the underside of the main platform. It's jagged and annoying to get stuck under, but I couldn't figure out a way to fix it.

In-game screenshot:
Video Footage:

New Pork City M+

Another New Pork City rebalancing. It's bigger than my other one, and much more suited for 2v2.

In-game screenshot:
Video Footage:

Onett M

Because the crew from Mother has had terrible luck with stages. Between not even having any in SSB64, and the ones they do have being New Pork City, Onett, and Fourside (none of which are balanced, and New Pork seems to be one of people's most hated stages ever), it seemed unlikely that these games would never be properly represented in stage form. And it still seems unlikely, as no one from the series has been announced for SSB4 yet. Anyway, the point is that this is the closest we're gonna get.

The main version of the stage has one platform, which is Fourside's UFO, hovering over Onett. The bump in the center creates some interesting dynamics, without having too strong of an impact on gameplay. There are currently four versions based on two sets of variables: with/without additional platforms, and regular/forgiving. The versions with extra platforms add two small platforms off to either side of the stage, whereas the other versions do not have these (see screenshots for each version; I personally recommend one with platforms). As for regular versus unforgiving, the unforgiving versions have basically no room for error on either ledge, and if you hit the ceiling at all below the course, you will miss the ledge. The regular versions (which I recommend) have a small area of each side's ceiling that will convert your vertical momentum into diagonal momentum towards the closest edge.

In-game screenshots:
Video Footage:

Saffron City M

Something which (apparently) has never been made (or at least put on BrawlVault), is a balanced version of Saffron City from the original SSB; UNTIL NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*cough* Anyway...
The elevator is gone, the side buildings are connected to the main one, and there is a single horizontally moving platform over the stage. HD versions and versions without the platform are included in the download.

Yoshi's Island (Brawl) M (Modulous)

A rebalance of Yoshi's Island (Brawl).

Includes 10 versions:

* Variations of tilting platform/static platform/no platform
* Variations of random support ghosts/timed support ghosts/no support ghosts
* A P:M Final Destination sized Omega (Complete with 3.6 FD spawns, respawns, camera, and death boundries)

Includes optional red shy guy removal modules (over a few different stages) by PyotrLuzhin

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage:

Unbalanced Stages
Gaur Plains Alpha (Modulous)

An unreleased Alpha that was originally planned for Project M XP.

Alphas are designed to be (somewhat stupidly) massive variations of stages. Gaur Plains Alpha is a combination of Super Smash Bros. For Wii U's Gaur Plains stage, and the Omega, resulting in simply a larger Gaur Plains.

In-game screenshot:

Video Footage (out of date, borderless stamina collisions have since been updated):

Kalos League Alpha (Modulous)

I realized I really enjoy making alphas after finishing Gaur.

Another big, crazy stage. Combines all the transitions of Gaur into one form. The background still transforms.

To-Do (Upcoming Stages):
Currently working on: Yoshi's Story (Melee)

Other Upcoming Balanced Stages (Note: Subject to change, and in no particular order):
  • Windy Hill Zone
  • Saffron City 3.6
  • Gaur Plains
  • Delphino Plaza
  • Brinstar
  • Great Bay: Reddit edition

Known Bugs:
When bugs are reported to me, I will post them here until fixed.
  • Onett M crashes on certain Dolphin Builds
  • Platforms on Temple M+ will sometimes show incorrect lighting the first time they are loaded, but show correct lighting on subsequent plays (this is the strangest bug I've ever seen in Brawl modding)

Non-Stage Work:
BRSTMs (Brawl Music):
FantomenK- Goodbye Summer, Hello Winter (ProJared Theme)
Popularized by YouTuber ProJared, who uses it as the theme for his show, FantomenK's Goodbye Summer, Hello Winter is a fun chiptune-styled song. This BRSTM is looped from the ending into about the 13 second mark via fade-in. Considering how catchy this song is, I'm very surprised that this song has never been made into a BRSTM before now.

Preview:

Recommended for: Final Destination (Melee); Flat Zone; Training Room
GaMetal - The Mega Man Mega Medley
A man who goes by Jonny Atma (formerly TheJonnyDeath) made this awesome guitar medley of what his fans decided were the best songs of the Mega Man series. The result is a massive song of nearly 12 minutes of pure amazingness. I did a custom loop of this song that I'm pretty proud of, but it really doesn't matter unless you usually tend to have matches that last over 11 minutes and 40 seconds.

Preview:

Recommended for: Final Destination; Battlefield (Melee); Dr. Wily's Castle
Pokemon Indigo League (Anime Season 1) Theme Full
It may seem weird that I made this, as there are plenty of BRSTMs of this song out there already. I chose to make a custom loop of it, however, because I never found a full loop of this song. It either looped only the first verse, or "looped" in the sense that the song started over at the end. This was my first time editing a song to do a satisfactory loop, and I think it went pretty well. The instrumental portion of the beginning fades in during the last singing of the word "Pokemon," making for (what I consider to be) a relatively unnoticeable loop.

Recommended for: Pokemon Stadium 1 or 2
Who Likes to Party? - By Kevin Macleod
This is a public domain song by a man by the name of Kevin Macleod. I personally found this song from an easter egg in the game The Stanley Parable. A fun little disco tune which doesn't normally loop, but never fear: I remedied that.

Preview:

Recommended for: Custom stages. I can't think of a stage from Brawl or default Project M which this could easily fit into.
Once you go secret, you never go becret.

Just find a similarly sized stage, then import the STPM (and possibly the StagePosition in ModelData100) from said stage onto your Luigi's Mansion edit.

Ok, that worked, but it messed with the spawns. Any attempt to fix the spawn points crashes brawlbox upon save.

Could someone make CSS portraits for this stage? Be nice to finally replace Castlevania fully with this.
You could simply use the Brawl ones, the appearance of the stage is unaltered from those portraits.

Basically, I took this course, and I (with some major trial and error) removed the pillars. The only thing this course needs is the 3.0 camera, and I have no idea how to add it. If someone could tell me how to fix it, that would be amazing, as I am trying to make more competitive Project M courses, and obviously need the camera. Download of the brawl version is attached, and it requires the original st_mansion rel or a conversion of it to work.
I took this course
They're stages, not courses. Why do you think Stage Builder is called what it is?

CSS is Character Select Screen, stages go on the Stage Select Screen, or SSS. And they are easy to make, all you need to do is take a snapshot of the stage, save it to the SD card, and convert the .bin to a .jpg with the bin2jpg tool floating around somewhere.

Wow, force of habit from when I was a kid. I used to always say 'course' for some reason, and now I often use them interchangeably.

But now I'm gonna be super self-conscious about it :urg:

Both are fine actually, thank you all. Let's hope these icons get added into the main rar file eventually.
I'll add in the stage name, game icon, and game name tonight, and I'll also add the stage portraits if smashbroski's okay with it.

Fine by me buddy! ;)
Thanks, They're all in!

Unrelated note, how do you guys feel about the fading-in front of the mansion? I think it's a cool effect, but it might be annoying to some people. It wouldn't be difficult to remove, so if anyone wants that out I can make a new version.

Pretty much why I requested for all the SSS stuff to be done, the PM team made a mistake removing the Green man's home stage imo.
Come to think of it, why doesn't Luigi rep his(few) own games now? :p

So.. Any plans for your next stage?
Well, you did give me the idea of trying to make a balanced rainbow cruise... Not gonna commit to that yet, but if it's as possible as it first appeared by looking at the stage I just might...

Ok, spoke too soon, there is no way to bone edit anything in that course... Its out of my league  Open to suggestions though! (I can also try my hand at balancing custom courses as well as default ones)

First things first though, free day 1 DLC for Onett M! Platforms!!!!! Because after playing on the stage for a while I thought platforms would improve it greatly.

Fun fact that I found out while working on Onett M: Onett apparently has the meteor from the beginning of Earthbound hidden far off in the stage's background.

I found PMCE's Rainbow Cruise. :p Anyways, there are still stages without any type of balanced edit yet.(Pirate Ship[outside of simply being frozen], Lylat Cruise[a version with one BG based on FD exists], Castle Siege, Mario Bros., Metal Cavern, Saffron City, Yoshi's Island(Melee), the PM Training Room, and Mushroomy Kingdom) Actually, speaking of that stage, Mewtwo2000's made a version where it doesn't move. I'd suggest taking that, and making it a background for a stage similar to Onett M. As for platforms, well, those blocks have been floating in midair for years now.

Onett is pretty good, but Luigi's Mansion is beyond fantastic. Thank you for making it! :D

As far as suggestions go, Mario Bros. doesn't have a good tournament viable edit yet.

Looks like I'm making a balanced Mario Bros! I made a very rough version already, so it is definitely do-able. Not gonna give out an ETA yet, but it is my next project.

Cool. Is it going to have an animated background? :p

Seems unlikely. The way that the majority of the original stage's platforms work is too strange to place in the background (or another course, for that matter), so there wouldn't be anywhere for the shellcreepers and sidesteppers (still love that they're called that) to walk. So I'm going to say definitely not for the first release, at least. If I can find a good work around I would love to do that though.
