In the future the BBR-RC will be using a separate thread for communicating with the public, and releasing new announcements. Until that time, we are making this thread to alert the community of new infractions assigned to members of the community, taking place immediately.
Three members received new infractions as of today: Judo777, ZERO..., and Mew2King. Judo777 and ZERO... have each received a Yellow Card for splitting at Brawl in the Hall 5, and Mew2King has received a Red Card for Intentional Under-performance at Genesis 2. The Red Card has been assigned to Mew2King because during Genesis 2 he was currently under probation from his Yellow Card infraction at KTAR 5.
Reason behind the decision for Judo777 and Zero...:
We understand that this problem was relatively low-key, with no harm intended. Because of this, we have chosen to distribute them a yellow card as a warning. The two players admitted to splitting after the tournament took place, though to offset this they played out finals completely and swore it to be in good faith. However, in good faith or not, splitting is clearly against the rules, and agreements like this can not be made public or encouraged. We respect the effort put forth in still playing out finals, but we hope this warning will show that splitting will not be tolerated. The Yellow Cards for Judo777 and Zero... will be active for 3 months.
Reason behind the decision for Mew2King:
Under-performance has been a problem in our community for a while now, especially in pool play. In every tournament (especially large ones), matches in pool play are still regular matches and the deviation of these matches can effect results, even for players not involved in a questionable set. The BBR-RC is aware of recent events at tournaments, including Ally at Clash of the Titans 5, and Mew2King at Genesis 2. We want to make it clear that character choice alone can not have someone infracted. We understand there are times players wish to practice secondaries in preparation for bracket, or conserve energy for long and tiring events. The difference between the situation with Ally and Mew2King however is moving into Intentional Under-performance, which is specifically stated as not being allowed in the Unity Infraction System. All factors have been considered under both events, and with Mew2King's current Yellow Card still active, this is the conclusion we have reached. We found the isolated incident (involving a single person) with Mew2King to have crossed the lines of intentional under-performance, while Ally had not. The Red Card for Mew2King will be active for 4 weeks.
The BBR-RC have discussed both topics and came to this conclusion in a majority vote with each other.
