Umm is it just me or does wolf yell raul when he does his upsmash? Like wtf is he supposed to be saying?

Hmmm. Well, to me, it sounds more like HOW-OOH!!!, but whatever. If it is, err... RAAAOW-OOL! as it would sound, he's clearly referencing the long-dead founder of the Star Wolf Squadron.

Wolf actually has a Puerto Rican half brother named Raul. When his parents died, Wolf made efforts to smuggle his brother into Lylat so he could have a place to live. Unfortunately Andross decided to deport Raul to Solar since he found out he was an illegal immigrant. Raul couldn't survive the harsh conditions, despite his training in space combat with with Wolf.
Raul O'Donnell died in a fatal Wolfen accident when he crashed into a lava plume after being attacked by a bird.
Wolf blames himself for this loss... He takes responsibility for not being able to train his only friend enough to survive. Wolf's usmash was a technique taught to him by his brother, so he named that attack Raul. His howling taunt, thought it might not sound that way at first, is actually Wolf calling out his brothers name in a desperate cry for retribution.
Though Wolf says that he blames himself, he holds a secret grudge against Andross for causing a conflict that didn't have to happen.
Also, the only reason Wolf hates Fox is because of Fox's constant victories against Andross. Wolf never found himself ready to avenge his half brother. Whenever he found himself ready, the StarFox team was always dispatched to stop Andross. Wolf gladly took on the job to take out StarFox, and Wolf thought it honorable that whoever won the battle would be the one to stop Andross.
