A new dawn is rising :P

The year is 2006 and years more have passed where whispers and rumours of smash in sydney have passed throughout the boards and websites."Haha Rabbit" the first person from Sydney to ever show a pro interest in smash gave the game up before i even knew what a wave dash was.

I have usually been the only one to represent Sydney in tournaments held out of state, few have travelled to another main cities to challenge the skill of others, yet recently Sydney boasted another 2 participants

A Year later and Sydney has held a tournament in excess of 15 people, a small mildstone to some, but a lunge forth for Sydney. In a National community that is expanding rapidly in queensland, players in melbourne now has to hone there skills to place in thier own tournaments and players that have participated in tournaments since the beginning still represnt Tasmania, South Australia and Perth.

Australia's interest in smash for both Melee and Brawl grows and i'm proud to announce it grows in sydney also

Guide to Watson's Bay

The only way to get to the venue via Bus is by the 380 bus "Watson's Bay" which leaves from Bondi Junction, Bus stop "A". To get to the series of Bondi Junction bus stops, located directly above Bondi Junction Station you have two options: Bus and Train

TRAIN
Catch any train heading to Central station and then take the Eastern Suburbs And Illawarra Line train which departs from Central Station Platform 24 .
Once you arrive at Bondi Junction Train station make your way to the Oxford street exit go up the escalator and you should already be inside the Bus station central.(skip to 380 Bus section


BUS
I can't recall every bus route that leads to Bondi Junction Station but theres an excellent little website that does:

it's very simple to work, you put the closest bus stop to you in the "From" or "1" section in the second section type in bondi junction station The Third section is called "when" you should select the options: "Arive Before"than select the date in the second box which in this case would be the 1st of March, and your last option should be "10:20am" leaving you plenty of time to get to kulla's place ^_^

you'll be asked to check if the details are correct or change the stations selected, make sure the second option says "Bondi Junction Station (Location)"
than choose a route from the options and get your arse over to Bondi Junction Bus station Central. (skip to 380 Bus section


380 Bus
You should now be directly above Bondi Junction Train Station, in the Bus station Central
They have Many bus' leaving from many different bus stops in this station, each categorsied by letters of the alphabet, your looking for Bus Stop "A" and your catching the 380 bus to Watson's Bay (not to Dover Height's).

Once on the bus, relax and take in the excellent views of Bondi Beach and later on the ocean over the cliff's in Vaucluse as you make your way to the venue You get off at the last stop.
as soon as you get off you should be infront of a place called Robertson Park.

The Scenic Route
I've even got a map here to show you how easy it is to get to the venue, and so you can enjoy the scenic route straight away rather than getting lost:

quite simple, the bus icon is where the bus drops you off
the red man is you, all you have to do is follow the red line to the venue.

walk down through Robertson park via the pathway all the way down towards the ocean. when you reach the end of the path you should veer right and cross military road where it imitates a roundabout. now on your right should be shops and on your left is a view of the city that only rich people get to see but today you get to steal it from them for a little.
follow the path adjacent to (in line with) the beach all the way to the end.

At the end of this walkway there should be steps leading up to cove street, take the stepsand right on the corner there should be 1 Cove Street, cream coloured with about 3 steep stone steps leading up to a caramel wooden door, which can be found if you follow cove street to the left and look right,
press the buzzer and we'll come down to eat your soul ^_^

now no one has an excuse for not knowing how to get there.

News to fellow NSW smashers now on the increase: Tentative date for the NEXT SMASH TOURNAMENT: 22/4/07 at University of Sydney, Technology (UTS). Send this wonderful news out to your friends, fellow smashers! The one we had was great and I'm hoping this one will be even better!

Anybody out of state are welcome to join Sydney in it's never ending quest to improve the smash scene and attract more smashers to the world of serious professional smash! As well as to stop putting NSW down and comparing it to Tasmania and even Canberra... (This isn't to reignite the 'NSW vs Every state' war)

Smash, Crash and Brawl! S3 Sydney Tournament for 24th May 2008!!!
Location: UTS University near Central Station, Sydney. Very easy to locate desu.
From there, walk down the steps from the main entrance room to the Concourse, an area full of lounges, sofa chairs and of course, vending machines desu.
Still a work in progress desu.

Sydney is holding yet another Smash Tournament! This time, however, we will be holding our own very first Brawl Tournament alongside the already established Melee tournament!


Schedule for the day -
9am - Arrival, Registration, set up tourney and go.
10am - Melee Doubles
12am - Melee Singles
3pm - Break for lunch as we change over to Brawl.
4pm - Brawl Singles
6pm - Brawl Doubles

Kulla here, host of the now infamous (maybe only in my mind) Sydney bi-weeklies, just to let you all know, I no longer work friday nights so people can stay past 4pm if they should so wish.

I'm glad to be a part of the Sydney Smash scene, and I hope that I can continue hosting for a long time. The only issues I can see are when essays and things are due on a friday and most likely ill be looking at them for the first time that morning ...

But yeah, apart from Jaz's great guide on how to get to my place, you can also take the ferry from Circular Quay (or other assorted ferry stops) to Watsons Bay, which, if the weather is good, is generally quite pleasant.

Zereul had the same problems with attending the Bi weeklies. I can't attend bi weeklies due to work commitments.

However, I can practise on the weekends. If anyone would like me to practise with them on the weekends, I'm more than happy to attend. That goes to everyone who attended the Sydney tournament.

Jaz - you forgot Bjay, Meteor and others. They can be found on the Illawarra/NSW thread.
And Funky doesn't really main Sheik atm, he's more focused on Capt Falcon and lately, Fox.

pity you can't come =( we've got 15 ppl registered with over a month still to go; hope people keep joining at this rate =D.

I'm thinking of holding a smash open day before the tourney btw - something like you pay $5, and play smash all day with a free bbq lunch. what do you think?

yes, yes and yes. if this keeps up i'll start organising tourneys every month-ish; there's also animania and ohn6 that EGG's involved in and has been asked to host SSBM tournies there too so there's plenty of scope for me to help bring sydney back on to the scene.
