Lethbridge AB Weekly Meets

After holding a very successful tournament this past Friday, which 54 people paid to be part of, I've decided that there's enough interest in Smash to warrant putting further effort into building a community. To that end I'm going to start organizing weekly meets for anyone who wants to have some fun and improve their game. Additionally, these meets will serve as a lead-up to our next tournament, a 1 vs. 1 to be held in January. I'm going to get us a website made in the next little while, the link to which will be posted here when it's ready.

This Friday's meet is at The Zoo, which is the University of Lethbridge's campus bar. It's located on level 3 of the Students' Union Building (that's the building with the food court in it). The Zoo is an all-ages venue, so please don't think you can't come if you're underage. Please BYOC. I'll be there by 4PM to set up. Just look for the blond bearded guy wearing the red Shoryuken t-shirt.

Pro Impact Round Robins - St. Albert, AB


St. Albert smashers comprise an active, but small, community of players within the scope of the Central Canada Smash Circuit. To encourage competitive participation and growth within that community, round robins are periodically held at the homes of smashers living in town and win-loss results are recorded for posting at ProImpact.ca (http://www.proimpact.ca/), the hub of the CCSC's community information.

My god I envy you people!

My SK post has 0 replies here AND on gamefaqs... Oh wait, one post that says "GL HF trying to find SK smashers!".

Sigh.

I'm impressed though, 50 people is strangely above what seems to be average. Sounds like tons of fun!

I'm putting the weekly meets on hold until the New Year, as a lot of people are in the midst of final exams now and will be leaving town right after that, myself included. We do have a regular venue now, however! After speaking with the Zoo managers, and proving that we can bring a good sized crowd in consistently, they've agreed to reserve us one of their big screens every Friday. On the Fridays that they've got a band or other event booked, we'll be able to use Galileo's, the student lounge located one level below. It's got a projector and pretty nice speaker set-up. I might get a group or two together at my place over Christmas, and will post here again if I do so.
