Well I'm glad to see that Joel and Dope actually made it there. Drunk Dope and high Joel are too good...

Congrats on first, Prime... well done. Who needs MLG rankings?

James, you owe me $60 :).

I will hopefully be there, with my 2 points, and various flavors of frosted Pop-Tarts. AND THEN we'll see who has 6 points. ...It will probably still be you.

Kenny - we didn't find it at the venue. Hopefully someone has it :ohwell:

Everyone - We may be changing the points, so don't be surprised if they change. Either way, whatever point system we use here we'll use at all of them!

I may be looking for a carpool myself. Stay tuned!

As for points, we're discussing possible changes. What specifically don't you like about it? We're definitely open to suggestions.

CREWS RULES WILL BE CHANGING. It will likely reflect MLG's Halo ruleset. We will post the rules in all Midwest Circuit threads by the end of the week. Please hold off on making your crews until we confirm the rules we will use for forming them.

Jeff, we all think teams points should be more like MLG where each player gets points individually instead of as a team. That way if we don't have a steady teammate we still have points to get seeded by. Instead of starting at the bottom of the barrel every tournament.

Who is "we all"? I've only heard about 2 people complain about it, which is better than I was expecting.

Read my post in the SMYM6 thread. I say a lot, but ultimately, here's one major point:

We are rewarding teams for sticking together, but it is a relatively small reward. Likely, at the end of the year, the team with the most points will receive $250-$300. If you win even one tournament, you'll get about that much anyway. Therefore, there is almost no penalty for switching teammates if you're winning money regardless.

Let me know if you're still concerned.

except no because you could have earned 250-300 more if the point system wasn't team based

Cherokee: Switching teammates would be used for bettering yourself to win the individual tournament thereby winning money. Although by doing so you know you won't win the bonus at the end of the season.

KishPrime
09-05-2006, 02:57 PM
Exactly. If people change teammates, how does one decide who will win the bonus money at the end? The Midwest Circuit is designed to offer the bonus money to whomever is the best overall performer, whether it be team, crew, or singles. You can still switch teammates if you want, but then you will pretty much only be competing for individual prizes.

I still think the point scale should be done like MLG, but Squared already knows how I feel about it. Basically the way points are now, 2 9th places are equal to one 1st place, which is in no way true.

Tink

i just dont like 2 things about it. 1, that some people didnt even have their usual partners at this, but if they want to get their usual partner for cok, they have to lose all their points they earned here, and that if your partner suddenly cant make it for any reason, your going to be behind in points(could be alot too).

KishPrime
09-05-2006, 03:56 PM
So how do the bonuses go out then? The only reason for points is for seeding and the bonus prize at the end of the year. Seems that the bonus should require some extra measure of victory.

BIG C

obviously just MLG points to ppl and make it like mlg has in the last MW circuit event or w/e where u have to team with sum1 u have already teamed with in the season

KishPrime

It's not a bad plan. Nevertheless, it appears to be non-negotiable at this point. The fact is, you probably haven't missed out on too much yet if you didn't have a team. I don't think there were more than 4 or 5 teams at the first tournament that will stay together all season, and none of those teams are completely dominant.

Does this mean that Squared and Prime have already won the bonus pot?

KishSquared

Not at all. If two people with no points team up at cokII and get 1st, and consistently get 1st, they will win the bonus. The only way for us to win the bonus at this point is that same for everyone - to continue winning. Considering Joe/Mathos and Iggy/Tink are locked teams with top-4 points from FRI2, nothing is guaranteed.

There's no point in debating this anymore online. Online debates only frustrate everyone. The rule is already set for the first season, and it is up for changing next season. We have 4 more events to discuss this at in person, and I welcome everyone to talk to me about it at the events. Trust me, if I hear enough people that don't like it, it will be changed. For now, we're doing what we think is best for increasing the teams skill in the Midwest, and I ask that you all give it a chance.

For now, let's all have fun and enjoy the Circuit!

Tim - the points are changing. Stay tuned.

Hey, Midwest! You can see an ALMOST comprehensive set of results from FRI2 on my website (http://lbpolymusic.com/tio/Event.aspx?EventID=1939935327). Pretty groovy, eh? Just ignore the problems with the player detail pages... I'll fix it eventually.

EDIT: ok, I fixed it. Yes, I'm that awesome.
