im gonna be hosting a super smash bros melee tournament.
it will take place at my house in Grimsby ontario, thats close to Beansville, Hamilton, and
St. Catharines
there will be 2v2s, 1v1s, free for all, and some fun matches. for 2v2s try to bring a friend bcuz if u dont find a partner for the 2v2 ull have to fight them both alone.(unless you can find a partner at the tournament)
the prize depends on how many ppl show up, it could be small entry fee and the prize is all the money, or no prize, or something else.
if your interested/ have questions post below.
post the best dates for this tournament.
there wont be alot of food/drinks supplied, so if u think ull get hungry bring some food or some money for food at a store
try to bring the controller made by nintendo because you cannot use controllers with extra features (turbo, macro, etc).
the stage will be set on random, but the only stages used will be:
Hyrule Temple, Great bay, Mute city, Pokemon Stadium, Corneria, Final Destination, Fountain of Dreams.no items and c-sticking is allowed
*looks where is Grimsby ontario*
i will edit after
HOLY GEEZ that's farther than toronto??? O_O...I'm really sure of NOT coming, sorry =\
On a side note, I hope to see you and your smash friends at the toronto tourney held in 5 days!

First off, how big is your house? Do you have enough TVs or do people need to bring them. Do you have tournament software.
People probibly wont enter FFA and why would people enter 2vs2 if they dont have a partner.
About the stages, well, its not good choices. You should follow the standard stages in other tournies. Id list them but I forget them.
People will not want items. And no C-Stick? 0_o
Whats wrong with C-Stick?
Make sure you have everything down pat before you host it because if you dont people wont come. Anyways, I cant make it that far. Good luck with this!

thanks for the help, although it was a bit blunt. i put no c-sticking because i think if you aren't good enough to do it regularly, you shouldn't be allowed to do it. and i already know someone who said they would come and find a partner there.

No offence to Garet, but if you do go to this tournament, it will be nothing like the other higher calibur tournaments we have in Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal.
I am expecting this to be like one of those tournaments that you just have with your friends who don't really have much experiance.
Since it is out of the way, most of the good people will be put off by that, and by the fact that you have litter SSBM and SSBM tournament experiance.
People are also put of by the use of amaturish rules, items, levels, and other rules.
Just to let you know, if you keep this the same, and intend to hold it in a small place you will not get many if any of the good people going. From Toronto it is about 1 hour, or just under.
You may get some people who live closer, Sprocket maybe, he lives in Hamilton, but I doubt it.
You may be disappoionted with the turnout if you are expecting alot of good people from Toronto and Montreal/Ottawa to come if it stays the way it is. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
Imo, the Barrie tournament was better than this one so far, and everyone got angry at that. I needed to make a tournament to fix it. :p

You may want to take a look at the discusstions they had there, the first post changed as the discussion went on. From there, you will see how serious the better Canada people became.

Anyway, I hope I helped in some way.

if they come to smashboards, you can be sure that they are enough good to know how to use the C stick proprerly.

Hell, change up the stages a bit. Grimsby ain't that far from me and if more people decide to go then I'll try to make it there. There are rarely any tournies close to me. So if its set up then I should find my way there. Hopefully some real good guys live close and decide to go.
