Gold Coast Presents SQUAT 2!


It seems like yesterday that the QLD smash scene consisted of just a few people and we were disgracefully bad. Fast forward to today and we have one of the largest and fastest growing scenes in Australia.

So after the success that was SQUAT its time to do it all again! The Gold Coast Crew (AKA The Ward) has kindly offered to host the next tournament. This will be the biggest tournament ever held in Queensland so let’s all do our part to make it the best ever! So tell all your friends, even if they don’t have a clue what smash is, more people = lower entrance fee so get talking.

The purpose of this thread is to organize this tournament officially and to keep a better track on numbers and also equipment. I’ve nominated myself as Tournament Director as I’ve been to the two biggest Australian tournaments, so I have a fair idea of what I’m doing and my laptop was the hub of the first SEAT. Plus we need someone mature and responsible to keep an eye on everyone :)

Of course most of the actual work will be done by the Gold Coast guys so lots of thanks your way.

Where: Helensvale Community Centre
When: July 16th (Date to be confirmed)
Cost: $20 Per hour to hire the venue. Entrance fee has been lowered to $4 per person
Food: Thanks to those great guys on the gold coast we have a sausage sizzle going. A sausage is $1 and a can of soft drink is 80c. You can buy a sausage and drink together for $1.50. :)

Please post if you plan to attend and let’s start getting numbers down. If you are able to bring a T.V or Gamecube please mention this in your post.

It is unlikely that we’ll have time to do a low tier tournament. However if enough people express interest then we should try to include one.

RULES:

Players will randomly be divided into pools. Size of pools depends on number of participants.

- Best 2/3
- All Items are off
- Bottom 1/4 ( 25%) of Pools will be elimated, top 75% will advance to brackets)

Characters & Stages

1st match - Any characters can be chosen, if any discrepancies arouse, double-blind character selection will be used

2nd match - Loser of First match must choose whether to choose to pick the stage the second match will be played on and pick character first, or force the winner of the first match to select character first and choose random or agreement on an allowed level.

3rd match ^Same Rules as second match

Slobs on Stages

1st match - Must be random stage unless both persons agree to a stage that IS NOT BANNED

2nd match - After characters are selected, loser of 1st match selects a stage from either the random stage list or the slob/allowed stage list... IN NO CASE CAN A BANNED STAGE BE PLAYED

3rd match - same rules apply as in second match

I'snt the bracket match an 8 min time limit, you can keep it at 7, I dont think I've ever seen a match go past 6 min's.

Can I be the cinematographer, we just bought a new digital camera so I can film both the tv and film the crowd.

Okay, last time it was $20/hour and came to $160 for 8 hours.

The bond was $150 dollars, but we were able to get it back (I had to clean all the cheese stains out of the carpet from the lunch Rae made)

If we comfirmed signup that is...lets say below 30 people, we'll probably get the same room and pay the same rate.

Just so everybody knows, if we go for 8 hours again, and have at least 16 people, then thats less than $10 a head.

Last time we got about 21 people, so there was more than enough people to pay.

@KK: add a Confirmed signup list and the pricing details.

the cost will be:
Board for the room = $150(payee would be gratefully accepted-refunded obviously)
room $ per hour = $10
$ per person = depending on how long we go though... lets say 20 people for 8 hours (9am-5pm)
would work out to be $4 each...(IF you van AFFORD it....looks at VYSE discouragingly...LOL)
seeing as this is so cheap can we please get a few people to help pay for the bond which i cannot stress enough IS refunded on returning of the key of courseas long as the room is kept clean and undamaged... BUt if it is not left in an above standard tidyness than the bond WILL be then called upon to be payed for by whoever wrecked it...UNDERSTAND EVERYONE??
