View Full Version : Link's new dair
I know this is kind of trivial, but I'm sad how Link can't bounce of people with his dair. :( I mean, it's cool now cause it's kind of realistic, but I liked Link's pogo stick.

I imagine almost all of the moves have been changed.
Please keep in mind that this was a trailer. And part of the reason we only saw a trailer is because the game isn't far enough along to show anything else.
I think the trailer basically used SSBM with updated graphics for most of it. Mario's dsmash and fsmash looked exactly the same. This isn't a bad thing -- just don't be so certain that the physics demonstrated in an early trailer will carry over to the real thing.
Heck, we don't even know how physics will be in general.
Edit: on the flip side, I don't agree with Uncle Meat either. If SSB-SSBM is any indication, then a number of the moves will be exactly the same, but updated with the new physics engine. A lot of Mario's moves from the first game carried over into the second, but because of the new physics, they acted differently. I would be VERY shocked if Link's down-a wasn't the downstab we've come to love.
It actually looked like his attack was powershielded
I think link will still bounce on people with his down air...
it's only the trailer, just like the special movie from ssbm :P
Odds are Young Link will be out of the picture. :(
Farewell my little friend.

All 25 SSBM characters are returning, so Young Link will be there.
Not what this topic is about. It's applicable, yes, but keep it relevant. This isn't about whether or not characters will return (that's a big debate in and of itself.)
But, if one were to talk about how Young Link's dair might work...
In case nobody's noticed, I think it is very important for this room to stay ON TOPIC in its topics. Things are going to get crazy with speculation, so we don't want it to be like the [back room] where a million threads talk about the same thing. So, the mods are going to be tighter on making people stick to topics.

Pichu is returning? ... He will be top tier this time!

It could just be the nature of the hit causing the lack of bounce. After all, the same thing can happen in Melee. Watch near the end of Wak's latest Young Link video for an example of it (as well as an awesome example of what can happen when the bounce works <_<).

There was no powershield during Link's Dair, btw.
I don't really think not having Link bounce on dair is a good idea, but who knows.

Yeah, it's a trailer. Doesn't mean his dair will RIP.

It wouldn't be too bad if Young Link were eliminated, especially if you consider that Link could be a mix of his previous self and Young Link. Neither of them were really THAT balanced anyway.

Young Link's a completely different character, so don't even start to get into that.
I agree, some sick combo's can be used with the d-air bounce (Wak's YL for example...poor Fox), but I really wouldn't mind if they didn't bounce anymore. It would give you more time to set up another attack, and L-cancelling it would be easier too, just in case it landed or didn't when you weren't expecting it, and miss the L-cancel because of it.

i hope that since link is twilight princess style then young link will be wind waker style....
I just hope all old characters do make a return. <3 Doc.

That would make me cry.
If the D-air were changed to not be a finisher that would kinda suck. :(

I never said it was realistic, I said it was more realistic when he thrusts through them.
Btw, spaceballs, where did you get that information? Can you give me a source?

i saw the gameplay in the trailer, the combo's are more noticeable, it makes a new impact when a combo continues (look at metaknight's 3 hit air move), also that crazy finisher item...WTF WAS THAT!!!!, that **** was crazy, i see mario burning and then blast a ****load of fire at them, and yes to stay on topic...the movesets will most likely be the same, just i don't know what new type of move they can add, wavedashing better not be taken out, you can't remove signature moves (link's dair), this game is gonna kick ***
