Is Konami on board or is it just Hideo Kojima?

Am I the only one frothing at the mouth at the possibility of Mystical Ninja characters (Goemon! Ebisamaru!) and Castlevania characters (Alucard! Soma Cruz!) being in SSBB? I think not!

But the question is: how likely is it that Konami signed over the rights to their characters or if it was just Hideo Kojima who was "practically begging" for Snake to be in Smash Brothers?

God I hope it's the former.

Well judging by the vid it seems it was Nintendo's idea, but Kojima had wanted him in since before being offered, thus snake was already on the field as if to say, "I'm there."

Still the possible inclusion of Alucard, or any Belmont gets my brain wet and tingly. BUT, considering Konami's recent partnership with Microsoft, it's probably more of a Hideo Kojima thing than a full Konami realtionship, so I'm not getting my hopes too high.

It's definitely just Kojima as far as I can tell. But seriously, who expected Snake of all characters to make an appearance? Almost any character is a possibility at this point because the Nintendo-exclusive barrier has been broken.

Yes the break down now exists. In ways this makes me very very sad. I do feel the game is looking for the older players. I mean one of the best things about smash is that it was a kids game but its so advnaced. All levels of people could play the game. It was kirby and mario and fox. Now its a silent assasin?!? I would have much rather seen sonic than snake just because of the implications that go along with the maturity its bringing to the game .

don't forget miyamoto and kojima are friends there is no secret about it, however kojima works for konami, so he can't decide were to publish the games since he dosn't pay the development costs

hoever Ithink there could be MGS games for wii now, I hope, even thatn I'm getting a PS3, I will like t5o play MGS whit the wii controller

I believe Solid Snake and the metal gear serise is owned by Konami. Hideo is definitely on board, but I don't think We'd be seeing Solid Snake in smash if Konami disagreed with the idea.

Yeah, I figured Nintendo had too much pride in its own characters to put in 3rd party chars, but I'm glad that they've proved me wrong. I imagine a lot of companies would jump at the chance to put some of their characters in the new smash as it basically equates to free advertising. At this point, I'd be surprised if Sonic WASN'T in the game.

In case you didn't know, the guy on the left attacks primarily with a yoyo, the guy in the middle with a giant pipe, the chick attacks with I forget what (a bazooka, for one), and the ninja attacks with daggers. They're originally platform characters, so the transition into smash brothers characters would be a smooth one, I think.
