As you all know, when you register for an account at SWF, you have to choose a username that is exclusively yours. As you're also probably aware, users are not permitted to change their usernames unless they have a diamond membership (http://smashboards.com/premium.php?).
In addition, we have had a long-standing policy regarding banned users. Officially, if a username of yours is banned, we expect that you will respect that ban, be it temporary or permanent. If you are banned and reregister, we reserve the right to ban any new accounts you create and, if the original ban was temporary, permanently ban your original account.
As of today we are instituting a new policy on members with multiple accounts. Effective immediately, individuals may only register one username. Registering mulitple accounts for a single individual is prohibited.
There are a number of reasons for this, some of which I've already stated. We also want to make sure our warning system is doing its job; if one person makes multiple accounts and is warned on all of them, it's unfair if they get to keep posting on each account even if they ordinarily would have been banned (i.e. had amassed 6 points in total).
That said, if your account is banned and you wish to discuss it, you can do that over instant messenger--do not, however, make a new account, or we may very well uphold the original decision regardless of what you have to say. If you simply cannot remember your username, you can always use the "forgot username/password" feature that appears after you attempt to log in, or contact an administrator. Admins can access your old account details and reset your password even if you've since changed your e-mail address or other details.
If you do happen to have mulitple accounts as of this post, we will not necessarily ban your additional accounts, but we do request that you select one account to become your primary account and refrain from using any others. Also, if you have warnings on mulitple accounts we reserve the right to transfer them to your primary account. This is to ensure that our rules are being fairly and consistently enforced.
Please note that we will be taking this policy very seriously, especially as we approach E3 and the release of Nintendo Wii and Super Smash Bros. 3. If you do notice a user who has reregistered, you can make a post about it in Forum Disputes and we will look into it. Please assist us in creating the best possible environment for Smash Bros. discussion as our membership continues to grow.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or another administrator.
