Right, I've been talking to Kone and a couple people around my area, and I've actualy got the date sorted now. 10 AM start to a wheneverthehellwefinish close. Just wondering who could actualy make it? I've already got a bunch of locals coming, and I believe Kone is cramming a bunch of guys from Newcastle into his boot. Butyeah, I figure I should post it here and see if anyone else from around england could make it? It would make a nice warmup for the thing happening in Newcastle ^^

Great to see this thread up now ;

As Caleb (Lord Rust) stated Ive been workling in conjunction with himself (and Foxy Sharpy) to sort out this tournament in Taunton. I encourage anyone wanting to come to get their names up here ! there is limited housing so first call for english players and those that live within a couple of hours should look into a late train home otherwise please say if you would recquire housing for definite to be able to make this.

Its a one day tourney but it'll be great fun for all : ) . Me and the Newcstle crew ill be making it down for this! It'll be a definite great way to get some practice in for my tourney!!!!

Just occured to me to mention where in taunton it actualy was xD It's taking place at St.Andrew's Church Hall, which is litteraly a three minute walk from the train station, which is absolutly ****ing perfect. Close enough for me to run down and meet people coming off the train if need be. Though - by the looks of things, I may not start the actual tournament untill 11/12, pending when people could actualy make it, as some people, (IE, you lot up in Newcastle o.o) Are making a ****ing long trip, and I wouldent mind a few casual games beforehand to warm up while people arrive. I'll put the postcode up later so people can use maps and whatnot, I've got the actual physical address written down Somewhere...

Ill try get people looking at this thread caleb from msn. Doubtful that you'll be digging up anyone who actually live around taunton here =x

Ive also got to email you regrding the tournament. Warmups will be good. I don't think youd have enough time for two X singles tournies and doubles. Should be one large singles -> doubles. There isnt going to be enough non-new players there for there to be any need to run a singles tourney for those that are new / scared of the better players. Playing better players = only way to get better. Best bet is the idea i put forward re: bottm of pools into a singles bracketet and finding a small prize for the winner/ runner up.

Well, there is only going to be less than ten smashers that have been to tournies before there, so its just time consuming to run two tournaments!

Also, if theres enough time is it cool we run north v south?

Probably won't be attending this, but all the best Lord Rust. Perhaps this could break the UK scene wide open. Lets hoping, hehe.

Be sure to have your tournament threads posted up on Gamefaqs and Nintendo forums. Also flyers around schools, colleges, universities, large site bulletin boards do help if you've got the time for that.

Caleb - You guys will be included in the north v south match, probs won't be many southerners present that aren't part of your crew / dans. If we do have alot of people we'll do north v south v south-west. Seriously crews are fun much more so than doubles or even singles :)

It'll also give people a taste of crews for my tourneys draft crews n england v scotland ^_^

Im sure we'll get to do them. Just got to be efficient in running singles n doubles (double sshould just be double elimination, no time consuming pool bollocks!)

Also, maybe we should have a prize put aside for like best newcomer or something. Like, person that does the best outside the smashers that have already competed in a tourney!

For All : I really dont see how you guys would need the post code of the venue. All you need to do is get to either taunton bus station or train station. Give Caleb your arrival times and grab his mobile number incase your delayed/early/keep him updated and im sure he'll sort out meeting you/escorting to venue (ie what any good host does >_<)

spKz/craig : You know how you'll be getting that bus to newcastle for a pound for my tourney?! well guess what, it runs to taunton aswell. Just check out www.nationalexpress.com and book yourself a funfare from london - taunton. When i checked it looked like 5 pound return, can't complain!! only 4 hours aswell :)

Also, will you be making the london tourney in a week man? if so can i get housing at your place, im pretty sure you said you could at some point. Anyway ill sort it out online!

Caleb: Theres more interest in this tourney than i expected, i think you need to look at possible housing issues?!

Christ o.o This is gonna be bigger than I thought ^__^ However, yeah - housing issues may be a problem. I need anybody who actualy needs a place to stay to email me at august_weaver@hotmail.com, furthermore, if anybody gets into taunton and wants me to come meet them, give me a ring on 07968211953, or my brother on 07731142212, as my phone is a tempermental *****. (His name is Jake, if he seems confused just tell him to hand it to Caleb).

As far as housing goes though, I don't think I'll be able to put that many people up, as the only place I can think of is a rather small house, and people would be sleeping on floors if they were sleeping at all, and that isn't even garanteed. Anybody around this area who could perhaps put a couple people up for the night would be fantastic.

Also - it looks like were going to be needing more TVs/Cubes. I can supply a TV, a Projector, and 3 Gamecubes. I hope people can all bring their own controllers just incase, and anybody who can bring a TV down, or a cube, or even a copy of the game/memory card just to help out, again, would be most apreciated ^^

Caleb : You should keep a running account of whos interested in coming and whos needing housing on the front page. Also, id edit it with the location of venue, contact details ie the mobs you jsut stated and rules/entrance fees.

Re: Housing. I wouldnt worry about providing beds and blankets for people. Any experience smashers knows to expect to sleep ANYWHERE and that they should bring their own sleeing bags etc. You should inculde this on the first post aswell. eg in sweden me,jam, geoff slept on a freezing stairwell in mid-winter / at ros2 we slept in a cupboard lol . Just find out how much fllor space you have to offer and talk to friends n family.

It would also be helpful to find out what nights people need housing for or what nights you can offer ie no point not telling people you can't house friday nigth and letting them book!!

Now that this thing is getting more attention you need to really confront housing ASAP as its too much expecting people travelling four hours from likes of london and back in one day ie they'd miss the tournament!!

I've already spoken to you about -possibly- sorting a place to stay, havent been able to get hold of Kate yet, but she maay do. But I imagine she'll only have about enough space for say 3-4 people. And it's first come first served I'm afraid. I'm trying desperatley to find people who are willing to put people up, but most people are adverse to random hordes of geeks invading their floor. >.> However - I shall update on the situation soon!

Caleb : Ive not spoke to dan recently in order to reconfirm the housing arrangmeents, could all change. Im not getting worried though, we can always kip in the car. Im just trying to be pro-active for the other guys that are coming to the tournament and recquire housing ie jam plus friend, antd, imoneofthem, spkz etc To be honest your only looking for housing for around five people for one night ie the saturday unless some people can only make it late fri. Thats if dan can house us!

Travellodges are crap, anychance you can look round your town and see if theres an yof those really crap looking b and bs? im sure it wont have to come to that as as i stated theres only really like 10 needing housing and half of us will porobs be with dan (i hope).

and there is the slimmest chance that i could go (depending on where it is), but at least its a possibility!

EDIT: nevermind, i found it on get-a-map. anyway, this doesnt look to be too bad, i should be able to come depending on costs and if my parents let me go. ill try as hard as i can, but even if i can come, dont expect the best :ohwell:

PS: I live in salisbury so the bus/train journey would only be about an hour max?

I'm thinking we could all wander to vivary park and set up camp somewhere obscure xD I'm not sure about legitimate camping spots though - and I'm not sure where I would find out about stuff like that o.o I'll have to ask people who live there. I'll get back to you on that!

Furthermore, Kris - I know someone who actualy lives in salisbury himself, who maayy be coming, and if he is I could see if he could drive you up? I'm not sure about this though, but I'll ask him, I think he may be actualy working >.>

All: Ill check out the local area, im up for the idea of camping. Caleb : there'll be a legit camping spot nearby, ill check. Not too hard to find, ill just check my roadmap lol.

Ill bring two tents, 3 man each. So thats a good 6 of us camping ie me jam scott in one and others in the other one lol. This'll be sweet!! ill just get a place sorted for us sat night and drive everyone there after the tourney

Craig: Im staying at yours for the london tourney which is 22nd i believe, that cool? if your coming to this tourney you can canmp with us ^_^
