capture card software and settings

for anyone who uses a capture card straight to a tv, i woudl love to ask you soem questions about what settings u use to get a good quality video with small filesize. anyone who has the slightest idea could be a help ^_^

What you actually want to do is record the video from your capture card at high quality settings first. Then, you want to recompress the high quality video. This is probably the best way to get a low file size, but still not-so-bad quality footage.

1) Record at max quality.
2) Open recording in editing program (virtualdub, adobe premiere, windows movie maker)
3) Make edits, and export in lower-res, lower quality. (Divx is a good, 'free' encoder)
