Yea, i use my composite input to capture small clips such as victory dance or cinemas onto my computer from my gc. this is because the preview screen is just to small

What you should do, (if you have a composite-input for your comp) is buy a composite input splitter:

and hook the Video (yellow) into that. This exact splitter is 25$, a total rip. You can buy them at radio shack for like 4$. Hook the GC's video output into the splitter, and then one end of the splitter into the Capture card/device you have, and the other into the TV, like so:

That's the exact setup I have, except I have extensions for the cords, and an external capture device.
Or you can record your matches onto DVD / VHS tapes, and then playback those matches and record them onto your computer.

meh, windows vido encoder also lags up. i guess there's not other alternative than buying a capture card.

Sounds like a great idea. Um, alright. So, if I'm going to be uploading this stuff to, say, a laptop... I would need to invest in-
1) A composite input splitter. ($4-$25)
2) An external capture card. ($????)
3) Extension cords... for convenience.
...and then use a video program (like Adobe Premiere) to capture videos? Can anyone suggest to me what sort of capture device is good enough to do the job and a price range? Um, I don't know what sorts of things that I can describe about my computer that would affect the kind of device I'd need to get. I have used FireWire (borrowed from a friend) to capture stuff from a camcorder before-- should that be about the same?

I found a good way to recording it straight to my comp. You can get it all at radio shack. Its very similar to XXDX's method but without an expensive capture card. I got this camera mate, and basically it turns all RC connections (Red White and Yellow) into a USB. Plug your red and yellow into the camera mate and split your yellow so one goes into the camera mate and the other into your TV. You can also split audios but I find it unnecessary. After you install the software whatever video/audio you plug in the camera mate it will be read by the software. So you can play Smash on TV while it gets captured on your laptop or pc. I paid around 60 dollars for the whole set up...minus the laptop of course.

connect ur GCN to a VCR or TV that has A/V IN AND Out, plug the GCN to the IN, a cable to the out to a video capture card to record, and open an appropriate capture software program such as Sonic MY DVD
