I have a SONY Handycam (DCR-DVD92) which records onto the minidvd and i had been having trouble video taping battles. I started out just taping the front of the screen and i kept getting the BLACK LINE. I got information on how all that works and heard that I could use a cable that came with my video camera. This cable plugs into the AV port on my camera and then i heard i was to plug it into the output jacks (Red, Yellow, White) from the TV. Only problem is...this isn't working lol. I get this far and am not sure what to do next. Another thing i have tried is doing this but going from the camera to the VCR to the TV which didn't work either. Im pretty much out of ideas and I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

Try recording on the camera when you have it hooked up to the t.v. then try to watch what you recorded. You prolly are doing it right you just don't think you are.

Ok are you looking to record the TV screen with the camera where you get the sounds and everything or just to record the match through the VCR and just get the game sounds? The former is pretty straightforward, the latter you would have to have the GameCube hooked up through the VCR through Video In, and then hook the camera up to the VCR via Video Out. The VCR acts as a middleman in a way. To get my camcorder to record off an external device I had to open the LCD screen and press two buttons that had the record symbol instead of pressing the regular record button to tape that is at the back, so see which one works for you. Once you get the footage on the Mini-DV then you should be good to go from there.

The way i put matchs up on filefront it goes through a long and annoying process... get a VCR put the gamecubes AV's into it then record the matchs on a VHS tape, after that use a DvD Recorder to convert the video tape onto a DvD. Then use dvd decrytor to put the VOB files on your computer then use autogordian knot to convert the VOB files into AVI format then add music and titles with Windows Movie Maker

Wow that is inconvienient. So you can't record directly to your DVD Recorder from the GameCube? That must be a pain! Also think of all the multiple compressions you have going on there. First of all you tape to VHS which already gets a quality hit. Then you record to DVD, which probably wouldn't make much of a difference at all. But then you convert the VOB files to AVI which will probably result in some loss. Then you compress it again into WMV! Wow that video just gets chewed up and spit out by the time everything is done with it!

The latest setup I have for making vids is much more forgiving than that and hardly inconvienient actually. I just basically hook my Cube up to my VCR through Video In, then hook up my camcorder also to the VCR through Video Out. Then I record onto the Mini-DV tape on the camcorder. After that I use my FireWire cable and connect my camcorder up to my computer. Fire up Movie Maker, capture the video, spruce it up a bit and I'm all done! However you have to have a camcorder to do that which isn't cheap.
