Remember that whenever you use your double jump, you are taking a risk. A misplaced pill may leave you open for a smash, and you've only got your up-B to save you if you need to recover. If it works for you, keep it up, but don't be predictable. I would still go with a SHFFL'd pill followed by another one on the ground.

i agree with juggleguy also it is better to short hop and pill while going up and fast fall to get back into the battel
You can't shffl a pill. Besides maybe not wanting to get hit out of the air, there is no reason to fastfall. You have more mobility in the air and no lag is cancelled by the jump.

What i've recently found very effective with fireballs is doing a running full jumped fireball and then a land dash forwards which puts you almost at the exact same spot as the fireball so if it hits it gives you really nice stun lock for a smash attack(or what ever else you please). You want to watch out though beacuse its a bit perdictable if I see something go wrong I'll usally land dash back instead of forwards to avoid an attack.
Sorry if this isen't applicable to Doc, I'm not sure if they have the lag time on their projectiles but I find this extremely useful to my marios game.
It is useful, but easily punished. And it requires a ton of space. Just like anything else, its situational.
