For some odd reason, when I attempt to add any kind of sound to the video, Windows Movie Maker freezes instantly. What's going on?

Hmm.. how new is your computer?
The problem could be an over-load in the Windows Movie Maker program.
How long is the music?

Interesting. Windows Movie Maker is a noob program so it freezes or starts getting really laggy when there's too much stuff (usually when it's longer than a minute -_-;; ). If your computer sucks then it's probably even before then. WMM also randomly crashes for me once every 10 minutes or so, I don't know if that has anything to do with what is happening to you.

Windows movie maker is is the worst video editting program there is, I used it too, it crashed on me when I started it up too., go to download.com and get ulead video studio 9, very very great for smash videos, it has firewar converstion support and capture support, so thats a good one.

Scene by Scene? You mean cutting the video in certain spots?

If you have problem with the sound use VirtualDub. And if it's an secondary stream (meaning, you want to continue using the original sound but still insert more audio) use NanDub. =)
