Team Europe for FC6!!

Allright, it's time to get this shyt organized!
The Kishes are kind enough to once again host the annual FC, aka Best Tournament Ever, and this time the Europeans are coming to represent, big time!

We're not gonna let the stupid, ignorant Americans make fun of us anymore.
This summer, they're gonna eat their words. In order for this to happen, we need a strong team, which means I hope we can get all of Europes best to travel!

The current team looks something like this:

So, if you're planning on going and want to be on the team, let me know! For starters we're trying to get a solid team of 10, so don't hesitate to show your interest!



On another note, men and Doug started a Team Europe fund last weekend, with the goal to ease the costs for those who actually do travel to FC6.
The idea is that for the upcoming tournaments before FC, the tournament organizer donates about 10% of the pot to the fund. This money is then collected and distributed towards those who join Team Europe for FC6.
We're hoping that tournament organizers all over Europe are gonna join in on this idea, as it is a great opportunity to help improve Europes reputation, this last summer of smash.

I know a lot of people have joined in on this plan, and I'm obviously going to donate my share from the RoS3 pot, aswell as some personal donations.
Even if you're not a tournament host, donations are VERY welcome, and highly appreciated.

As I've already said, I'll be going to FC6, among other American tournaments, this summer. Sign me on ;).

BTW, I'd gladly donate money if I could. But seeing as how I'll be studying pretty hard this semester (thus not being able to work) and the fact that none of my parents work for an airline, I'll barely be able to afford going myself, let alone fund other losers, I mean Smashers :P.

Me and Jam *should* be making this. However, I really don't see the need in making any sort of team list or strategies. Basically there are quite a few tournaments before FC that may alter who would make the team and secondly I don't think alot of people that say that they will be there realisitically can. Do people realise if your trying to fly into south bend within a week of FC it'll cost like 500 pound upwards? Yuna, how the hell you going to afford going? lol. Do you work? You say your going to travel america but how?! I doubt Team Ben will take you everywhere +_+ Hows Amsah going to do it =s ?Lets keep off naming a team n **** like that till people have CONFIRMED flights, or it'll get silly. Sure, make a list of interested though!

Basically, I think the fundraising idea is definetly what we shoud be concentrating on here. Ill donate some from the pot at my tournament while also asking for donations at several UK tourneys beforehand.

My only concern is regarding how the donated money will be used?! how do we determine how it is split?!

Next, like to get some thoughts on car hiring/sharing. Doug, what is your current plan? How much do you estimate it would cost etc

We should also brainstorm some ideas for raising money! bagging? sponsors? etc

I'll be trying my ****edest to get to FC, which if I make.. I'd like to represent my part of the world when the asswhooping is being handed out.

If I can get any smashfests organised in edinburgh, I'll throw for the venue myself and put all the funds I get towards this.

In order for people to donate, there must also be a strong team for them to actually donate to, not just me and doug >_>
Same goes for getting sponsors or w/e.

Most fair would be to share the donations between any and all Europeans going, whether they actually make the team or not.
Only alternative is sharing between those who get on the team, including alternatives, which is most likely going to be everyone who's going anyway :P

But yeah, appreciate all the comments, and I hope we can make this work out real nice ^_^

I fully support this and will definitely place a donation of my own in here. Had an absolutely brilliant time in the midwest last year; just can't miss this tournament. Our top players must must MUST attend this if we want to have a go at winning this regional battle.

I'll be posting on the thread every other week if I can see fairly good ticket prices over the atlantic. The sites I generally surf are Travelocity and Expedia, but there are many others out there.

Also keep in mind our team will need 10 and alternates. We definitely want to get as many Europeans as possible to attend!

So, unless anything unexpected comes up, I'll be going. I know I'm nowhere near top 10 in Europe, but since everyone's obviously not going, I have a chance to be on the team, if as nothing else then as an alternative. Besides, so far I've always played better than usual in crew matches, under pressure. Noise does not distract me the slightest, I'd say it's the opposite. And even if I'm not on the team, I'll be a noticable supporter!

Since I know pretty much about European smashers and like to strategize, I'll post thoughts on players and stuff later. Not everyone is going, but we can still think about what kind of team we'd like to have, before we know what kind of team we CAN get.

Out of those who IMO have a guaranteed spot on the team, Helios, Ek, Nihonjin, Doug and JD are apparently going or at least considering it. How about other Dutchies, like Dave? Other Swedes like Smash Alex and Svampen (Yuna is going I 'm afraid)? Maybe other French people (Makenshi, Niam, SPD, Doraki)? Jam, Kone and London have been talking about going for quite long now, these guys will make the EC trash talk seem like nothing!
