Couldn't find this on the sticky so I hope this isn't too much of a problem.
What exactly is that "capture card" called as I could not find it on newegg.com. Also, does the capture card allow me to simply connect my gcube to the card and then the card to the comptuer? Basically allowing me to play gamecube on my computer? I'm confused on the workings of it. Someone explain please. (Don't forget about price)
The device title should just be a video capture card. I don't know any by name so I don't know what to recommend.
(EDIT - Oops, read your post wrong. Hehehe...) Anyway, after installing a capture card, your computer basically functions as a TV/VCR. So, if you want to record a match live, yes, you can just plug in your GameCube, hit record, and play a match. However, I wouldn't recommend that since a lot of computers lag behind the actual match by sometimes as much as a couple seconds. If you want to record live matches, I would recommend plugging the GameCube into your TV and then hooking an A/V cable from your TV OUT slot to the computer. Click record, play while watching the TV, and then click stop.
I've never purchased a capture card before so I'm not exactly sure how much they would cost. I personally use a USB cable (no hardware needs to be installed to the inside of the PC). I just recently figured out that I have USB 2.0 FULL-SPEED ports and not USB 2.0 HI-SPEED ports which are about 40x faster. So, I'm waiting for my HI-speed USB card to upgrade my system. :( However, if the quality is anything like my friend's USB vids back home, it's a really nice way to go.
I know other people like to buy those fancy little video boxes that have several inputs on them. I think they connect by USB but I'm not sure. I've never used one.

Thanks for the info! I think I might found one but its costing over a hundred dollars...
What are you using for your vids Buzz?? How do you just use a USB cable... does it connect to the TV?
Yes, it is a cable that transforms the A/V (red/white/yellow) into USB. So, I plug my GameCube or VCR into the TV. Then I have cables running from the TV OUT to the USB cable to my computer. So, whatever is on the screen of the TV is also on the screen of the computer's video capture program. This cable I have cost $70 (after shipping costs) and came with some good quality video-editing software. However, I have yet to post proof of its quality since I'm still upgrading to hi-speed USB. Get back to me on Wednesday. :)
2 questions do they sell a usb cable that has vido and audio out? If not I know one A dazzle DVC150

And what do you recomend because I have no TV OUT and I would use this with vhs tapes as well(Not smash)
( I would have started a thread but there is like 5 of these already
EDIT-FastFox that is a vido capture card and a usb port, it has (I think) a rf in which you could connect your cable or vcr or gamecube rf adapter. The circle on the side is either a s-video or another imput like what bach has in the sticky. That is a usb imput at the end. The thing wih that though is that i do not think that you will be able to watch the action live, you may have a little lag,(ok with turning vcrs to tapes but not good for ssbm)

Is this what the USB cable you use looks like, Buzz? If so, how easy are they to use when it comes down to actually capturing the video onto your computer?
