At my best buy they have a video card with a program that cost 50$ and you can plug Av cables in there and s-video I believe, also it records anything with AV cable hooked up to it, theoreticly, but for sure vcr's and dvd players.

Depends on your card. If your card has AV (a.k.a. RCA) inputs, then you don't need to buy anything new; you can feed your Gamecube's output straight into the card. Unless you want the Cube to plug into both your TV and your computer, in which case you'll need parts like this (http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/~nterrell/Images/cube_cables_2.jpg), which will fit together like this (http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/~nterrell/Images/cube_cables.jpg). These cost me about $40 IIRC, and I'm not sure if Best Buy will have them; try Radio Shack.
If your card only has SVIDEO input, you'll need a cable that converts RCA to SVIDEO. Dunno how much that'll run you.
Also, if you don't want to bother with splitters, another option is to use the "TV OUT" slots on your TV.

No no no... if u already have an s-video out *on ur computer*, ur set... go to gamestop, or other game store, and i bought 9.99$ universal (xbox,ps2,and gamecube) rca jacks with an s-video port (red white yellow + s-vid)
thats just the cables tho.. dont go buy 100$ cables.
i also use an ATI adapter that connects to my cable so i can watch tv on my laptop.. that was kinda pricy. just put your yellow and 1 audio (red or white) into the tv, and the s-vid and the other audio into the ATI adapter and the ATI into the computer...
Well, it depends on what kind of connection he wants. Obviously if his computer has red/white/yellow slots on it then you just treat it like another TV. He can use standard A/V cables. However, assuming he doesn't then he needs either a video capture card or (in my case) an expensive cable that does all the work for you and plugs directly into USB which almost all computers have now. He'll only be spared spending lots of money if his computer freakin' rocks already. :chuckle:

good point buzz, thats true... im my case, i went with the ATI adapter so i have the TV option so i can record shows and blah blah blah... which runs around the same price as the 100$ cables.
a downside to the usb is the delay in the data transfering to the computer, but i dont think ur trying to play gamecube on ur monitor anyway.
so it depends what u want to get with ur money i guess.

Hehehe... I actually did experiment with that. It's pretty brutal how much delay there is. If you attempt to play with another person, you have to make your move well in advance if you want to connect with anything. That's why I connect using the TV OUT slot. That way I can play a match at normal speed and then turn to the computer right as it ends and push stop.
