OHN5 2006, ATTENTION Australian Smash Community!

*ATTENTION SYDNEY/AUSTRALIAN SMASH COMMUNITY*

As many of you know there is a national fighting game tournament taking place in Sydney on July 1st and July 2nd. Already we have secured a bunch of people from "Empire Arcadia" to come out, including the infamous Justin Wong. However this year, we at ozhadou are planning to expand our game line up and include SSBM - as it is after all a fighting game.

At the moment we are still waiting for the SSBM community to take alot of interest and present us with a tournament proposal for this event as we are going to be flat out as it is running the various other events.

Many of you know the SSBM USA players WES and KILLOR, as they are part of the Empire I can request that they be brought out along with the other members and they most likely will come. The boss of the Empire keeps asking me about interest for SSBM and I tell him yes there is interest but nothing concrete yet.

However I have not recieved any - if only a little interest so far from the Aus SSBM community. So please, if you guys want this to happen one of you who has experience running SSBM tournaments send us in a tournament proposal so that we can officialy get SSBM on the OHN5 game list. With an event of this size covering numerous fighting games and including international guests you must appreciate that it is/will take alot of effort on our parts to run this smoothly.

So please, discuss it amongst yourselves and try and organise something ASAP so I can organise the US SSBM players over here through the Empire.

The Proposal is pretty much finished, I'll send it soon due to the fact that I am not currently at home.

I think that the best way to get interest going, is to get people to confirm their coming to this tournament on this thread. Obviously, this has to be done after ZEREUL submits his proposal.

TSC, how must support in numbers are you looking for? I can tell you straight out if its realistic or not, but if the likes of Wes or KILLAOR do come, the event will get instant interstate support (ie good players). I will promote the event as much as I can, but keep in mind I am in California, so all I can really do is spend a good deal of time spreading the news with my database/network of Aussie Smashers (its alot).

Granted, I reckon support will be sound, given proper promotion, but ONLY if the USA guys are coming for sure. Otherwise its all in vain.

Thanks for the reply Caotic, I agree... once we have recieved Zereul's proposal and confirmed the SSBM tournament I will get the confirmation on the USA players. In regards turnout numbers, I mean obviously I assume having some good US players coming out to Aus is going to motivate the Aus Smash scene to come out to Sydney for this event. Any help/promotion etc you can assist in will of course be most appreciated.

Sorry for making a thread just about this, I know over at Ozhadou Zereul had expressed interest in running a SSBM tourney at OHN but we were unsure were it was heading. Glad to see it cleared up and look forward to having a great event in July.

I'll keep you both updated on the US player thing.

OK I spoke to MikeG and it seems that all this is seemingly following course.....so basically I'll be coming. I'll strike up a question too, what kind of chance is there that the best players from this little nation of ours could get some recognision in the form of sponsorship?

Even so, I'm wondering about accommodation. Are we allowed to stay at the venue or do we have to find our own accommodation? I have relatives in Sydney, but it's good to know if I need them or not ;)

On other news WES from the USA is confirmed to be coming, I just spoke with Empire Arcadia's boss and he told me the good news. They are also going to try bring a few other top tier Smash players for OHN5... I will keep you guys updated. Hope to see a BIG SSBM turnout for this event.
