I've NEVER been able to master Pichu's shorthop without actually re-adjusting the way I hold the controller when playing as Pichu. Even then, I still can't short-hop whenever I want. How do you guys do this? No matter how much I practice, I still can't use it when I want all of the time during a battle. Sometimes I SHFFL 2-3 N-airs outa nowhere and then some B-airs, but the latter doesn't occur often. How did you master Pichu's short-hop? Do youhold the control a certain way? Maybe you use the control stick or the Y-button(I use the X-button). Thanks for the help = D

What i do is i flick my thumb off the left side of the y button quickly for a perfect short hop every time. if u do it right you'll barely feel the button off your thumb

There is no specific way to Short Hop for Pichu (or anyone else for that matter). Every player has their own way of doing it that works for them I guess.

Just practice what you feel comfortable with untill you can easily do it whenever you need to.

practice with Fox, THAT'S a difficult shuffl. Or Sheik's, his short hop is not so short anyways hehe, as well as Kirby's. But I personally find Fox the hardest to short hop. When u get used to it, I guess Pichu will be piece of cake. And use the X button.

Don't Fox and Pichu have the same amount of jump frames...? I'm not an expert on this so don't flame me on this. Though it is strange, I short-hop with Fox more often than Pichu 0_o I don't know how, it just happens....I've been practicing however and getting better, very slowly.

I don't know either about Pichu, but Fox has 2 frames for the short hop, and even though I don't know with Pichu, I can do it pretty much every time I want to. Not with Fox. Keep practicing, it's the only way hehe, even we suggest things, u'll end up trying over and over until u get it working every time u want, and yes, comments do help, and I can tell from experience as well, but that's precisely the best tip I've received: to practice.

Shiek is a girl. :)

ANyways. This can possibly work for you.

First, get a very good idea of how far the character's short hop is by going into training mode and slowing down the time to at least 2/3 or 1/2 of the speed. You will find how easily shortjumps are from there. Speed the time up after you get it. When at normal speed, try practicing running around and short hopping. That way, you'll be a bit more prepared when in actual combat.

Now, after that, if you really want a challenge, speed up the time to 1.5. The shorthop just got much harder. If you are able to get the short hop from there, you have basically got it down.

Now, for the actual practice of shorthopping and applying SHFFL's.

What you can do is choose the character you want to practice with, Pikachu in this case, and choose a character that you feel that you need more practice against. (This is still in training by the way.) Reason being is that you might want to get a feel to how far, how hard, you can hit a character against so you have a very basic idea of what you want to do AFTER.

Then, Put on 3 other computers, and set it on walk. For each opponent there is, aim a SHFFL at 'em. Let's say, Blue Link is for hitting a SHFFL'd Fair, Red Link for a SHFFL'd Dair and Black Link for a SHFFL'D Bair/up air. It's good practice for the timing when they are moving around, so you get used to hitting enemies that are moving.

Hope that helped a bit. After that know how to control the distance of the shorthop on how far you want it. Either the maximum distance that you can go, or just right behind you.

That's a real nice way of training...I guess I could try it out. Unfortunately I'll have to wait untill Friday to do so :( Thanks anyway..
