Alright Fox, Falco, Sheik, Marth, ect. are above Doc. on the tier list. Understandable, these characters are godly, but jiggs, what actually qualifies them to be higher? I know its if the character is played perfectly thats how it would roll, is it certain moves that they have make them higher, or is it overall qualities?
I know there will be some, "OMG look at another one of these n00ble posts" but i'm curious.
Lay some knowledge on me.

The Tier list is based on matchups.
Based on the current metagame, Jigglypuff has more good matchups than Doctor Mario.

IMO, doc should be right below falco. I know that's not everyone, but from how I've seen some doc players and myself play, that's the conclusion I've come too.

agreed. but this all boils down to opinion and not based on the match ups that they seem to be basing this tier thing off of... anyone can beat anyone else, it's just a matter of skill in said character, and their ability to handle differing playing styles

I think hes below luigi.
!!!!!!!!!LUIGI FOR TOP TIER!!!!!!!!!!!
Tiers don't really matter. You won't be better with Fox than you are with Doc just because he's a higher tier. It just depends on who's playing.

well according to the tier, it means if the character was played perfectly thats the order they would come in, but this matchup thing, ive never heard
i'll leave it up to the tournement to decide who wins... and tiers really dont matter, but still nice to know

as far as i'm concerned, any time i hear about tiers, i assume it's meant as how well people who have great knowledge about the game think certain characters can do against the rest of the cast, on the highest level of play. tiers aren't made to be decided by one person, and should be free of personal bias. if they can't be backed up with some valid logic, they are worthless.
as far as i can see, doc is in a propper place.
it kind of works down to this:
tiers are opinions. opinions backed up by lots of experience and logic arcross many people who know what they're talking about.
they don't mean that one character will do better against a certain character, they're overall pictures.

Thats true, the teir system is done well I think. Many people have different ideas so it would be impossable to have a perfect teir list that everyone agrees on. I personally like Doc quite a bit, hes my 3rd or 4th best and hes really fun to play as.

I really don't think Doc should be below falco and fox but he should be 7th in the list.

I agree that the list was put together correctly for the most part. Although doc should be in the top of upper tier, IMO. Doc players are getting way better as far as SSBM as a whole is concerned. I think that he should be above jiggs, and maybe above samus, and he contends pretty well against peach and captain falcon if played correctly. Of course this is all a biased opinion, but that is just my experience from watching a ton of doc matches vs. nearly the entire cast. Granted he does have his weak points, but he fairs pretty well against most everyone that isnt in Top or Upper Tier.

well, doc is used more widly than jiggs and has more uneven matchups. Jiggs actually has good musmatches, whcih cancel out some of her disadvantages. But i agree doc is better.

I think hes the most underrated character in the game.
By far, pichu is the most underrated. Yes he does hurt himself, and he is light, however the speed, along with his power (see Fsmash) can make him very difficult to play against.

Nice postzor
Doc is pretty balanced IMO and is therefore extremely dependent on the actual player.
He is where he should be. He isn't perfect, end of story.

ditto to that gea. He has bad reach, a tad slow, horrible recovery, and he needs to run around to combo since his attacks always push people left and right.
i mean..outside that though he rules: great edgeguarding, evil projectile against targets slower than himself, combos decently lead into finishers, and he's the only character who can choose from both black and pink. He's where he belongs....sort of. IceClimbers are still underrated on the list though, and need to be put above him.
"By far, pichu is the most underrated. Yes he does hurt himself, and he is light, however the speed, along with his power (see Fsmash) can make him very difficult to play against."
Being slightly fast, and having a couple strong attacks doesn't even come close to making up for the fact he sucks in all other categories(weight, self damaging, reach, etc). The best thing Pichu has going for itself is the fact nobody plays Pichu, and therefore, nobody knows how to play Against pichu.
Actually, pichu should probably be above Mewtwo. But that isn't a big bound or leap anyways. The only argument there is Mewtwo has a few combos, and pichu really doesn't. However, I think weight and size make mewtwo's combos more than nullified, since nearly every character is a "counter" in some way. Pichu is at least small.
Also: Doc lacks a proper launcher. Utilt doesn't cut it, and his dash attack can be shieldgrabbed. Usmash isn't so bad, but it still isn't quite what it could be. Think if doc's dtilt launced decently, like a weaker version of lui's dsmash? He would have alot more options for combo starting.

Ice climbers definitely should not be above doc. Their game is almost totally reliant on grabs and if you know that you can easily negotiate them. Plus IC's are owned by projectiles and doc has if not the best then one of the best projectiles in the game. And theres always the fact that IC's power can be halved by losing one of them. I reckon doc is in the right place he deserves to be below everyone who is above him excpet for samus.

In my area, Jiggz is more played than Doc by more than a little bit. It seems evereyone takes up Jiggz as a secondary or tertiary character. I've only seen a few Docs around, and only a handful of those even play properly. There are many people who >b ***** with her, and then try to land rest. They completely forget about the aerials and throws...
IMO, if you look at the tiers, Doc is right where he should be. If he was lower, he would rape the low-tier tourneys and if he was too high, he would get owned as well. I do agree with the Pichu comments on both sides, because I love playing him for fun, even if he does suck. I've seen some ICs that were not completely throw based and also played better man-down (or Nana down in this case). I guess that would fall in the same thing as Pichu though, since no one in my area really plays IC, then no one can really know how to defend against them.

I truly believe that we shouldn't bash the teir system. In the end, all it comes down to is opinion. It just so happens that every one of my roommates playes the three top teir characters, and I play Doc. Marth is evil, Sheik is overpowered, and Fox is a space animal....nuff said. But they still beat me, not because their characters are better, but because they are better players. I've picked up Marth, Fox, Sheik, Samus, Peach, and Falco and played them each for a month straight. I learned the ins and outs of all of their combos, finishers, edgeguarding, etc., and still I was defeated. I finally switched back to Doc and am now doing much better,m even crushing my roommates in about 1/3 matches. The fact that Doc plays someone from a higher teir than him does not garuntee victory. It only spells defeat for him if the player is better than you. I'm tired of people sayin g that they'll beat me because my character is rated lower than theirs. I proudly use doc and shatter the teir system by kickin *** wherever I go. Don't believe in the teir system, believe in the skill of the person behind the controller.

Quoted for truthery. I'd say the majority of my combos start with u-throw or d-throw, and very rarely dash attack. I can't seem to land U-tilt until after I've done one of the previous. The more I think about it, the more I think that the lack of a good "launcher" is Doc's major flaw next to his recovery.

Doc's got some pretty decent moves. dsmash utilt uair usmash bair fair Heck even dtilt can be a stage spike if used properly but its not a very good choice. I think jigglypuff is higher than doc because of her wall of pain works so well to rack up damage fast. Why would anyone think samus should be lower than doc. Someone doesn't have there head screwed on straight. Samus outranges doc in just ABOUT every area.

Wait, first you start your post saying not to bash the tier system, and you end it by bashing the tier system? I'm confused :psycho:
I personally think the tier system is fair and accurate, although player skill plays a larger part in the picture.

All TheOrder is saying is that mc-killa is making some of the dumbest points ever. Saying jiggly can 'pwn anyone' is like saying Marth can pwn anyone. Wow great observation. :psycho: Doc is awesome, my friend plays both Mario and Doc Mario and he's pretty **** good at it. Their ground dodge is nuts >_<

ICs are like top tier, they have no true counter, anyway with doc, he's good where he is, basically if he moves, ganon and mario are moving with him, so you move doc, you're moving the other 2 since their match-ups are very similar and they are i think the closest in the tierlist than any of the other characters are
