Hey guys, I've been practing with Ganon for a week now and I am still
having trouble Ledgedashing and Ledgehopping. I know these techs are broken
down in tony's and shin's guide. But I'm struggling with them. Any suggestions?
Do these techs come easy to any one esle? When i Ledgedash what frame should i
look for to press L and angle down with the crontrol stick? Same goes for Ledge
hopping.

Thanks

lol, what frame should you look for? can you count the 60 frames in a second?

just keep trying it with different timings until it works, then keep doing it until you can't do it wrong

About ledgedashing:

This is basically a wavedash off a ledge. First of all, learn to wavedash... well. Since wavedashing is air dodging into the ground after the jump, you can apply it to ledgedashing. Basically, practice this: full jumping, and when you're about to land, perform the airdodge towards the downleft or downright and you will wavedash. Once you get that, ledgedashing should work out for you. Once you get the timing for normal wavedashing and can do it with ease, this ledgedashing should not be a problem.

About ledgehopping:

This is basically letting go of the ledge while you're holding on, jumping, and doing an attack. There is no trick in doing this. While you are holding on the ledge, press down or away very quickly to let go, jump with either the control stick or XY, DI in the direction you want to go, and perform an air attack with the A button or cstick or even Z button if you feel innovative. Make sure you UpB quickly after the attack if you DIed away from the stage because you already used your second jump.

Six is right, it's just a matter of practice to get the timing right. One tip I can give you though, the ledge dash is a kind of land dash so you can tilt the joystick all the way to the left or right when you dash (you don't need to tilt down at all).

My whole problem with the hanging ledge dash is, when i ledge hop, i dont see myself with adequate time to jump again and then press L and diagonal down. Ganon is to close to the ground. Am i suppost to press the jump button after i do a ledge hop or press L and diagonal down imediately after i do the ledge hop?

ganon goes above the platform, not much so its hard to notice
at that time you need to use the air dodge
you dont need to press down alot with the joy stick, only alittle so he'll hit the ground with it

Just practice ledgehopping. Once you can do that everytime, being comfortable with the fact that you know you will make it allows you to try to ledgedashing in any match. After that, it's just pressing L. Not too complicated.

first learn to ledge hop, once you get that down consistantly trt airdodging straight across not diagonal down when you reach the hieght of the ledge. if you cant manage to get enough hieght by dropping down and jumping try using the c-stick to let go of the ledge by hitting it back (you must flick it quick though or else youll end up doing a bair) on it, jump and air dodge. the frame really depends when and where you jump from but if you jump exactly after you let go its the 14th frame of your second jump (15 all together). just practice ledge hopping and then start adding air dodges.

six: actually some people can get their timing down better if they know what frame to look for. knowing what frames i have to react on has helped me with a few techs.

kingwayne: when you said tony's guide did you mean me or is there and other guide out there by some dude named tony (thomas=tommy, tommy gets confizzled with tony just incase youre wondering how ive come to this conclusion)?

I meant you Thomas, your guide and vid has helped me out tremendously, ive been improving my techs slowly but surely.. It's only been a week for me using Ganon, Im just real impatient. I have one more question, you mentioned frames. Ive heard this term before. How does this frame system work? What is the logic behind it and how can reckongnizing frames improve my game?

Thanks

the game runs at 60frames per second. 30 frames is half a second, 15 frames is a fourth of a second and so fourth. with ganon there isnt much you can learn from frames except how to time the IASA aspect of certain moves. with DK and ICs knowing what frame to look for is very helpful but thats a different topic.
