And these questions, you shall answer.

I used to play Marth, but when Marth became "in" I moved to good ol' fashioned Mario. I loved him, and did a lot of owning, but he didn't have the powerful punch I so strongly desired.

Word on the street is this "Doctor" may be a good place for me to go, but I have some questions.

1) What are the stripped-down essentials a former-Mario player needs to know about the good Doctor? I read the guides and all it says is basically "slower, stronger" but what does this mean specifically?

2) I keep getting referred to this Bob Money fellow and a video by the name of "Overdose." Where might I find this lovely bit of footage?

3) The down and dirty basics: what's the best way for somebody to wipe away all former character conceptions and begin playing a new one? Basic strategies (I'll develop the more complex ones after I get a feel)? Don't talk to me like a baby, I'm an accomplished Mario player and know, at the very least, the basic physics of the game but have spent very little time playing the doctor, wanted to know how to get my foot in the door.

I love you.

1) Essential: Doc's fair isn't a spike, like Mario's. However, it is still an excellent KO move with huge knockback. I don't notice a huge difference between the speed of Doc and Mario. Doc's Fsmash has a much lower range than Mario, and doesn't have to be sweetspotted (can't be sweetspotted) in order to be most effective.

2) Overdose can be found on the hub, or Here (http://www.ssbm.it/musicvids/Overdose.wmv)

3) I guess the answer to that is just practice, and just do a lot of Doc playing if you want to wipe away other character memories. Can't really say much more than that.

1. yes doctor Mario is slower then Mario. Doc's Pills are very easy to run under or jump over. Also Doc Mario seems to have a bigger lag from his Coin jump then Mario has. Also with Doc mario it's alittle harder to do MArio insane combos.

So, basically, my problem with Mario was lack of finishing smashes, a lack of strength if you will. Is Doctor Mario the way to go? Will I notice more knock-off ability?

the difference in speed is very little between mario and doc, and almost insignificant. mario's recovery is better, and doc's moves (in general) have greater knockback and ko ability. both rely on good edguarding to win. doc's power increase makes it easier for him to beat characters like samus and peach (in my opinion) than mario. doc matchups are just slightly less difficult than marios, but they play in a very similar fassion

so switching from doc to mario will not really make that much of a difference in your game.

You may actually find it harder to KO opponents, due to the lack of a decent Fsmash. THe knockback is all well and good, but the range is crap. I'm completely sure how the rest measures up.

In essence, the difference of Mario and Doc is:

Mario - Great combo potential (grabs, UAirs, BAirs, jabs, DSmashes, FSmashes).
Doc - Great KO potential (FSmash, FAir, BAir)

There is a huge difference between Mario and Doc's game. Mario's approach is offensive; get your opponent in the air and combo him. Doc's approach is less offensive; once your opponent is near 100%, you need to find an opening for a FAir.

I'm pretty sure Doc makes good use of jabs, grabs, U-airs, B-airs, U-tilts and such to combo too =/

Anyway, Doc doesn't rely on F-air to kill nearly as much as D-smash and B-air.

even though iv only played with the doc for a little while i believe I have developed a combo of simple moves that deliver a nice KO effect.

first dashA it helps to under your apponen,
then jump up A
then up B to finish.

if he aint dead by then finish him off with a spike wile hes still recovering.

Are you talking about Doc or Mario? Doc doesn't have a spike. And that combo of yours....

1.) The speed difference is misiscule. But Doc has alot more KO Power, opposed to Mario who has to SweetSpot his f-smash(which becomes second nature eventuall). What you have to remember with Doc is that you have more outs. You can f-smash, b-throw, f-air, d-smash + edgegaurd and b-air them for KO's.

2.)Bob$ plays a great doc, and his combo vids prove it.

3.) Basically you should just go in with the same concept as mario, but keep in mind the differences. If you play a defensive Mario with Fireball spam, you can still play a defensive Doc with Pill spam and Pill rushes. just keep in mind that Doc has a longer cape, his recovery is somewhat worse(b/c of the cape) and that he has more KO Power, so you don't have to play so defensivly.

killing moves?

doc = back throw, fair, down smash, some f smash.

mario = f smash, spike

both = cape

Well I think Docs Sheet Is Thinner And Longer Then Marios Cape. And yithkai Mario also kills with the back throw. And if you choose doc you can actually tuant now =). Both are great characters and to me it really was just a matter of taste since i had the same level of experience with both.

You can taunt with Mario, you just have to be creative about it. I down-b while button mashing b to make you rise in the air like when you recover, is a nice taunt. I personally like to do either alot of u-tilts, pressing down alot so it looks like hes headbaning or just being ballsy and taunting them regularly. It usually results in a fullly charged smash, but your opponent will be kinda steemed for awhile.
