I plan on supplying snacks, drinks and dinner, but any help in those departments would be greatly appreciated!

If you want your name on the below list, please post in this topic!

With Melbourne's sizeable scene, and the fact that everyone posts in the Australian Smash Discussion Topic, it gets a bit hectic trying to find any sort of information on the Perth smash scene in there. Thus, I decided to create this topic, to make it easy for any Perth smasher to post information about smashfests and tournaments they want to hold.

Anyway, here's a list of the smashers I know of in Perth. If you know of others, please let us know ^_^

how about this for a plan

seeing as it might be possible for a smash meet, fest or tourney to exist without me, josh, bryce and kenton, why dont you orgainise something and we will see if we can come.

if we cant, im sure you will have fun anyway, ive heard that people can actually have fun without me being present.

hard to believe, i know, but hey, give it a shot.

Great start to the thread guys LOL.

I can't host anything until I get back from SEAT2. Until then, you guys will have to fend for yourselves.

(Mic I'd suggest you host, if anything. Since you have no ride yourself.. you know.)

Aha, who says I won't get my P's soon, huh? :P

ok, guess what

im going to use this thread for its intended purpose! zomg.

the plan was tuesday. i cant make this, i have to drop david off at work at 1 and pick him back up at 6.

so that wipes out most of the day, considering driving to beachborough is mostly a whole day thing.

so, have fun without us. im sure you can DS it up with mario kart.

I'm having a smashfest, my place, on the 27th of December, as I'm leaving for Sweden on the 28th.

Date: 27th Dec
Time: Anytime after 10am till late. If you want to crash, you're welcome to.
Games: Smash mostly.
TVs: I have two myself, although it would be nice if we had more.. depending on how many people come.
Address: 25 Valley Brook Rd Caversham
Home Phone: 9378 9914
My Mobile: 0438 993 220

I understand if you can't make it, it's close to Christmas and all. Hope to see you all there ^^.

hey .. that rhymes

rmusgrave

Yeah, it does. He luckily got the perfect number of syllables.

I dunno if I want to host a smashfest. Last time, people just played DotA on my PC and talked about DotA.. and played a bit of WarioWare on the GCN. I might host a gamefest insted. ^_^

Cubed64
01-15-2006, 06:28 AM
yeah, that was sooo funny

9 out of 11 warioware games went to me, pwnage

well, with my plans to go to melbourne, i might need to brush up on the ol' smash skills so i cant at least last long enough to make it into the montage.

Yeah, the title basically explains what I'm hoping for. Once every two weeks, having people over my house and playing smash. I really like the idea of biweeklies that SoCal uses, just to keep ourselves in form, or to improve each other wherever necessary.

Obviously if you get bored of smash while there, we can play something else. I'll also do my best to have 3 TV's set up for each gamefest.

So yeah, who would be up for biweeklies? What day is the best to put it on? Weekend is the obvious choice, but would anyone prefer one day over another?

My current suggestions:

Day: Saturday
Beginning time: 12pm
Ending time: Whenever everyone has to leave, unless my parents say explicitly otherwise (I have yet to ask them lol)
Meals provided: Dinner, most likely pizza or some other mass form of takeaway. From what I've seen, pizza is generally accepted by people as edible. Possibly asking people to pay a small amount for the pizza and drinks.
Snacks provided: We will provide snacks and drinks through the day.
Expectations: Respectful behaviour, and trying to keep the mess you make down as much as possible.

The first one of these will be a casual meet and greet, especially for newer smashers, and later ones may incorporate some kind of tournament.

Cao, if you see this, do you have any suggestions? Since you're running San Diego tri-weeklies, you will probably have very valuable insight and knowledge I can leach.

This is just a proposal as of now. What does everyone think?

Im no KO but I have some helpful information:
1 - dont think Anf (the Perth version of Anf) will come coz hes gay
2 - dont think the noobs will listen when you try to improve their game for a long time
3 - get good ya bums and come challenge me :)
4 - Mat is rich make him buy food ;)

Shaz is right about the noobs, he has given me soooooo many pionters its not funny and i dont listen to any of them, if i had i could own Em, Shaz, Cao and Gloth with a blind fold and one hand in my pant...... i mean Shaz's pants, or Gloth's maybe one in Shaz's and one in Gloth's >:D

Mic_128
02-10-2006, 08:40 AM
Ooookay, I was all for this until I read the part about pants.....

Sounds like an excellent idea. Anything to try and get us all back in the swing of things, and drag back the recently aquired peeps.

*Acquired.

As far as I've seen, my pointers work fairly well. I usually give tech skill pointers, so they're easy to give.

Me: Try this, it's called wavelanding. Good with IC's.
John: How?
Me: Wavedash just before you hit the ground. Can be surprising cos people don't expect the sudden movment.
John: Ok, cool. I can now main IC's again! Btw, about short hopping...

You get the idea.

I think for bi-weeklies to work for the long term you need:

1 - A large community of Smashers.

2 - hmm.... no, that should be about it LOL.

Westminster and San Diego ones work because they cover a large and previously untapped part of the population, full of keen Smashers to come in every now and then wanting to learn and stuff. They only hapened because there were a hundered or so people who cried out for growth and competition (San Diego cried out for a year or more LOL until I stepped up and now they've shutup). You'll always several new heads at every meet this way, and this keeps things less stagnant.

I suggest triweeklies or monthlies. :)

An interesting thing about the way things are done here:
$M-$O-$N-$E-$Y

The larger the pot > the larger the turnout > the larger the skill > the larger the fun. Other tournies in the region compete against each other for good players and it all comes down to the pot. I think you should also consider this as an enticer for the Perth boys who have lost a lot of interest in the game and their Smash Community.

Originally by rmusgrave: Day: Saturday
Beginning time: 12pm

ok, if that is the time, then there is a large chance that i and the others wont be able to make it. work has been finishing really late for the past few weeks, around the 7am mark, so that means i wake up around 3ish, so if i were to wake up, immediatly go pick up bryce, kenton and josh, we would probably get there around 4ish

but dont change the time on our account

As the first meet will be a casual one, it won't matter what time you turn up Cubed. If it turns out that it's better for everyone to make it Sunday, so be it.

Sunday sounds great that way I'm not working until 6... And I can actually make it =P But don't change it on my account, I don't even know how well I size up yet. I'm playing some others this Saturday, so depending on how bad I beat them/get beaten, you guys are next >=D

Pity you couldn't make it on Saturday Fawk. Hope to see you next time, it'll be a Sunday since it's most convenient.

Mic_128

Don't lie to us Mat, you did it on purpose. Next time you'll suddenly be involved in a car crash (probabbly from speeding) and have to go to hospital, the fortnight after, you'll be dead, ect. Excuses, excuses. ;)

In brighter news, bringer, The new blood have replied saying they'll be coming around one-ish. Any news from Timmy, or Rob and Co.?
