Shorthopping? Wavedashing? F/U/D/Bairs? Platform Dashing? All necessary?
How about Ganon's edgegame... getting back. Any tips?

There is a guide stickied directly above this thread. I suggest going through it a few times before asking such broad questions. I assume his guide answers such questions because it is, after all, stickied.

I've read the sticky and watched the videos.
I want everyone's opinion on Ganondorf and how they play him. Maybe I should have stated that more clearly. Sorry.

SHFFLing is necessary because Ganons aerials have huge huge huge lag. He's basically unplayable without L-canceling.
SHing obviously being part of SHFFLing, is also required.
Fair, Uair, Dair?... Umm, all of Ganondorf's aerials are 100% required to play him. There is no way around it.
Wavedashing is necessary to get proper spacing and land your aerials better.
Platform dashing is also very important because Ganondorf is a slow character by nature, and you need to platform dash to speed him up.
To get back, don't neglect the wizards foot glitch. Also, how high you want to come in above the ledge/how low you want to come in below the ledge is completely dependant on the opponents character and playstyle. Specifics on who you're facing, or tips that you're looking for in this department are needed to further an explanation.

Let's say I was up against a Shiek or Falco. Shiek seems to be a real pain.

shffling is a must with ganon.
you can play without WD'ing, i mean it is not necesarry like it is with samus or luigi... ofcourse if you can wavedash it helps.
platform dashing is also always good, but not something you cant play without, i guess
i think you mean recovery by getting back... down b in the air will gain you another jump and some horizon distance. sweet spotting the ledge with ganon is quite tough, but vs char like falco you cant do without it.
vs falco that tries to spike you without leaving the stage try stoping the DI forward and grab the legde. you should also play aggersive, otherwise he'll SHL nonstop, and its harder for him to, umm, sattle himself. after you got him off the ledge the way for the ko is close.
vs sheik, umm, chain grab :O

Watch the Triforce of Power. Thomas Tipman is a genious, and not just because I had a child with him, and the child is a genious, because he made this awesome video that teaches you how to play the Captain Falcon clone as efficiently as playing Captain Falcon himself. It's under video's I'm guessing, or under Gannondorf.

You need not to suck when playing as Gannon.
