Prepare to get your faces rocked.
OK, now that we got that out of the way, come to this tourney on November 12, 2:00 PM located at 1208 S Roosvelt in Tempe, about half a mile west of ASU.
There will be a $5 entry fee. Winner takes 80% of the pot, and 2nd place takes 10%
One-on-one matches, double elimination, best of three (best of five for the last 2 matches). 4 stock, no items. Loser of a round will be allowed to change character and select the stage.
The following stages will be allowed:
Princess Peach's Castle
Yoshi's Story
Fountain of Dreams
Corneria
Venom
Pokemon Stadium
Dream Land
Battlefield
Final Destination
For the first round of each match, the stage may be selected by mutual consent, or else random selection will be used.
After this, there will be a bonus $1 wild card tourney. It will be 5 stock, single elimination, single round. I will announce the rest of the rules at that time. I guarantee, you will either love it or hate it... or you'll think it's ok.
We will also be BBQing. Come eat, free of charge. If you have a TV or a cube to bring, let me know. I will likely have a lot of non-smashing friends hanging around, so you can feel free to bring along whoever you want to for some food and fun, but please let me know who is coming if you can, so I can be sure to have enough food.
This is sponsored in part by the Rock at ASU. www.rockasu.com

The following stages will be allowed:
Princess Peach's Castle
Hyrule Temple*
Yoshi's Story
Fountain of Dreams
Corneria
Venom*
Pokemon Stadium
Dream Land
Battlefield
Final Destination
Allow me to petition that the two starred stages be removed due to serious suckage. Also, why no IC tilt infinites? Come on, you know it'll be fun =)
Otherwise, expect at least some of Team Win to show up; I'll see if we can't bring a couple other games to at least throw down some money matches with.
Sam, who is this "Team Win"?

What can I say? I like those levels. Hyrule is the stage of the epic battle. Besides, if the tradition of the past holds, people will pick Final Destination 98.2% of the time anyways.

Seriously...Hyrule = horrible.....you can live forever on that level...its just plain stupid....there is no reason for that to be allowed in a tourney. Also on the Fd thing about everyone picking it all the time....thats cuz its a fairly balanced level....its picked because its good!

Hyrule ISN'T the place for an epic battle. If hyrule is allowed, I WILL blaster ***** it, and there's not gonna be a **** thing any of you can do about it. People used to think that nobody would really be that mean and gay, but it is ABSOLUTELY a viable strategy if you really want to win that badly. Stages aren't banned because people just don't like them; they're banned because it makes tourney play ridiculously stupid.

What's wrong with Venom? o.o?

You guys make some good points. Let's take Hyrule out of the mix. And let's never speak of it again.

yeah well maybe if you knew how to run a god **** tourny than you wouldn't have to even fix your rules at all. but considering that your a n00b/moron...i can almoast guarantee that you will get a 5 man show up.
AfroZero

Yeah. I figured that just putting it out there and throwing a tourny would be a nice way to try to get myself past n00b status. As for the moron thing... well, that could be a little more challenging. It's not a big deal, man. Rules can be fixed, and I'm open to suggestions. There is a lot I haven't seen, so I may miss stuff like that. Thanks for letting me know about the Hyrule thing, B. I think I might have come off wrong with my "Let's never speak of it again." Meant that jokingly. Looking at it again, I guess it came off kinda rude. My bad.

Bus routes...begging on my knees...check in every 25 minutes...beg on my knees...
With these elements combined, I CAN....maybe go. I'll be taking a bus, loads of favors to my parents, and then maybe I can go. Oh yeah, and I have to check in every half hour, or sooner.
Maybe I'll make it; hope to see you all there.
If someone miraculously responds before the tournament, what's the setup going to be? It's a BBQ, so are we playing outside, or just taking breaks to eat, or what? Outside setup would help my chances of going much, but alas, it's nearly to late.

Good matches, Rob, Treeko, company. Just because I beat you out of one set, you call me "Master?" You beat me out of the other one, and you beat me all the time besides. I should call you Master Treeko. Alright, I'll refer to you as Master Treeko exactly 5 times, eventually.
I need to play you again, Rob. As in, it's a physical necessity. I'll become ill if I don't get a rematch.
So glad I could make it. Thanks for throwing the thing, Afro, it was a load of fun.
