Big Albuquerque Tournament [Archive]

Sup y'all. Just came in here to tell you about a big Albuquerque tournament comin' up in November[11-13]. They are goin' to have SSBM as well as many other big name games [Like Gaylo and Gaylo 2]. The main attraction there is probably Soul Caliber 3 but smash gets a crapload of players[And I mean ALOT]. If you want to know more about this tourney here are the links.

Now I don't know about y'all, but I'm goin' to be there for sure. If any of you live around this area, you should go. El Paso is goin' for sure as well as other cities and states. They get ALOT of people and I mean ALOT. It's goin' to be a crapload of fun. But just to let you know now, we are takin' home the SSBM trophy. It'd be cool if some of y'all went so I could meet some other cool smashers. That is all for now.

i'm sure it's perfectly possible for there to be international contendors of other videogames living in new mexico.

dcx, I knew he wasn't just talking about smash. But as far as I know, there are no people from NM that are at a respectable level at ANY game in the US let alone Japan, Korea, etc.

Albuquerque has some really good players in both Tekken 5 and SC2. And as far as SC2 goes, two players are probably in the top 10 in the US. And last I heard, US owned Soul Calibur 2! Even though they are stronger in SC2 then Tekken probably, they have a good Tekken scene down there! Even the tick throw was founded in Albuquerque back when SFII: The World Warrior was released! It's just that 2D is'nt really their strong point, but they have a really good 3D scene!

And this tourney will be huge, Tekken and Soul Calibur will have the best players in the nation coming to this, from west coast to east coast. And SSBM also get's a lot of entries as well.

There will also be comp for other games as well, Halo2, capcom 2D fighters, DoA, etc. etc. so it will be an event that will have just way too much!

still, you can't except the fact that there are good gamers here in NM, our city is all about competition when it comes to SSBM, so hahahahaha

P.S. I would wipe the floor with the best players in SC3, Tekken 5, and any other game you can think of.

Dude, those are my characters lmao, well some of mine. I pretty much play everyone. Come to a big TX tourney sometime and MM me $50. The point is, there aren't any people from NM that ayone has ever heard of, meaning they haven't done well at any major tourneys. Austin alone has plenty of high caliber players.

just because you haven't heard of us doesn't mean we are not good, it just means we like to keep a low profile, besides, i haven't even participated in a tournament yet, but i have been practicing with 4 different characters with completely different attributes so i can adjust my strategy in a tournament if i need to, here's one of my characters: :luigi:

My friend has been to like 10 big big smash tournaments, gotten 1st and whatnot and he's awesome at the game. But I'm better and I've been to no HUGE tournaments. I'm awesome. I'm gonna win. That is all.

Pot depends on the turnout! If I remeber correclty then the percentages go like this...

70 percent for 1st
15 percent for 2nd
5 percent for 3rd
10 percent goes to house (the person running each specific tourament)

Normally, at these X-Topia tournaments, Soul Calibur and Tekken get the biggest turnouts. (This tournament is being done as a "Soul Calibur 3 kickoff" with a 1000 dollar pot for 1st) Last time they got up to 50 or so people for Tekken 5, and before that, 70 or so people for Soul Calibur 2 as the biggest draw. After those, Halo 2 and SSBM would probably have the biggest turn outs, followed by anything 2D. So for something like Guilty Gear XX, I'm not entirely too sure how many people will enter. Especially since a lot of people that enter that tournament are going to TrashDay2 in Houston. Anyways, I hardly play GGXX#R, but I'll gladly try to take first from whoever you think can beat me! :p

And alphabravo, who you be? If you would "whoop on anyone over there at Tekken or whatever" then I should have heard of you from somewhere!
