View Full Version : How to Finish Roy's CG

I noticed that most people seem to chain throw their opponents (obviously a fast faller) a couple of times (2 or 3) and finish with a fsmash. I'm just wondering if it's wise to continue CGing since it's not like the opponent can escape until 70%+. The thing is, Marth can finish with a fsmash or aerial at those damages unlike Roy. I just don't know what moves Roy can do to finish of a longer CG. Is it better to just end the CG with a fsmash at lower damages? If not, how should you end the longer CG (the fsmash doesnt reach the opponent if he DI's all the way left, right, or upwards)?
*I may be wrong about how long Roy can CG a fast faller.

Well, I don't think you can chain throw fast fallers to that high of a percent. More like around 40%. It's usually best to end with an f-smash. That's because it's a good finisher that does 20% by itself and it can lead to edge-guarding which is Roy's strong point. I sometimes end with DED if I'm feeling like I want to be fancy. lol. But yeah IMO f-smash is the way to go. And as for ending chain throws early, well I usually don't stop till the high 30%'s to low 40%'s so I can't really answer that. My guess would be the fear that their opponent is going to get out of the chain throw or that they are going to mess up thier own chain throw.
Stargirl: Your foxandfalcos sister right? Tell your bro to get his butt in gear and set a date aside to face me! lol I'm dying to go up against him. Why did you retire anyway? Just curious.

 @ my brother
I retired mainly for the fact that I barely play smash, I mean, my brother HAS the gc and the game. And I have lots of things to tend to at my aunts house, if I went in depth, I'd get tired typing :ohwell: Last time I played (sometime in July), I could barely waveshine combo :( , so, yea :3
so...
DED? What does that stand for? And, the thing is, I mostly do about 3 chain throws and fsmash, I just want to know if that's all you can do with Roy's grab.

DED stands for Double Edge Dance. Roys forward B combo.
foxandfalco: You going to Guantlet? If you are then face me there. You better be there!!!! lol.

Hmmmmm, well with foxandfalco as her brother she probably knew about the advanced techniques long before she joined the boards.

But for serious now.
I wouldn't go beyond 30-40% or whatever, and I don't think it is possible to go much further (if further than that) against someone who is good with DI. Fsmash is also the best way to end it, but sometimes that is not entirely possible. If that is the case DED is your best bet, usually.

Nobody truely retires from smash. They may stop posting, but they still smash.

Yes, I joined not to long ago, but I knew about smashboards before my brother (who joined last year); I just never bothered to join. And, Dope joined recently (I think), isnt he good and known well? . Anyways, ty. I never thought of using the Double edge sword to finish a grab combo. :) Whenever I have a chance to play, I'll try this out.

Exactly! That's what I've been doing. Of course, I also had to stop because I had no one to play with...but I found out that I'm pretty much the best SSBM player at my school because I won a tournament and no one came pretty close...but I'm really rusty. And I found some people to smash with, so I come back to the boards...and looking for new vids I missed :D. Seriously though Mookie, when's the next time you're coming to NC?
