Even if youve replyed and said you were coming in this thread, please add yourself on the wiki page, otherwise we will assume you're not coming (not that it would be a problem, we'd just have to rework the bracket a bit for unexpected show-ups) feel free to add yourself even if you are unsure of whether you can make it or not, simply add (maybe) after your name. all maybe's will be put in a seperate bracket so i wont have to work around whether they show up or not.

I'd be willing to host a tournament here in waco (about the same distance from houston, austin, dallas.. pretty much in the middle of everyone) if enough people would show up.

Melee Rules:
-no items
-Final Destination, Battlefield, Fountain of Dreams, Kirby 64, may add others if theres a demand for a certain stage.
-1v1 best of 3
-4 stock
-no time limit
-bring your own controller if you want
-no team tournament planned as of yet, unless there is a demand for one.
-$5 to enter, 90% of pot split between 1rst and 2nd, 60% to first, 30% to second

Smash 64 Rules:
-only $2 to enter, pot goes to 1rst only
-1v1 best of 3
-4 stock
-no time limit
-bring controller definatly for this one

The location is a nice halfway point between dallas and houston, so i hope to see guys from both places.

well yea, i just kinda threw a couple rules in there as an example, i wanted to get a feel of if anyone would actually come or not, first. of course there would be no items no matter what, and i guess Final Destination, Battlefield, Fountain of Dreams, Kirby 64, Yoshi's Story are all stages no one has problems with. updated some rules onto the first post.

great, thats a start. there's really not much of competition here, i can only find 2 guys here who play it activly, ones at the same level as me cause we're always playing against each other, and the other is even lower, but yea, i guess that makes 4 people so far, lol come on other people, i read in that txt file or whatever most of you are willing to travel a couple hours =x

Depends on the date really, you would have to be specific on the date. once you give me a date I can tell you if I can come.

well, if this turns out to be a success i guess itll be a bi-weekly thing, what day / time would be most convenient for everyone? lemme see if i can add a poll...ok, looks like i cant, so just reply.

1) Thursdays @ 6pm
2) Fridays @ 6pm
3) Saturdays @ 6pm
4) Sundays @ 6pm

i know a date during the weekday would prolly limit some people due to jobs / school, and im pretty sure theres other tournaments and such in other cities on saturday, so maybe friday or sunday? 6 isnt a definitive time either, basically anytime afternoon to give plenty of time for people to show up, and i guess i can start listing names of people that're gonna show up:

Friday and saturadays are good for me mostly, but I have church on sundays and school the next day, so most of the time sundays would be bad. of course, this sunday would be fine because I have monday off. and some thursdays would be allright when I have friday off, but besides that, more than likely I won't be able to show thursdays or sundays.

but saturday and friday are good with me most of the time. the only problem after that is convincing my parents, which is always a hard thing to do, so I wouldn't scheduel around me, and I would always put a maybe around me because of this. parents, so unpredictable.

Where is this going to be? How many TVs you got? I might go if i can, I use marth/shiek/falco/fox/falcon. Fridays at 6pm sounds good. Ill probably bring about 2-3 people with me, if its gets big enough... you know worth traveling for.

I'm a not likely unless I can get a ride. But no one around here would be willing to go with me unless we were guaranteed a decent sized pot. It's not that I am the type of person that only plays for money, on the contrary i enjoy playing the game. The thing is, it would be hard to jusify spending gas money knowing you wouldn't even get that much in return.

well i cant really guarantee it, what about the love of the game!? heh j/k, anyways, i updated the first post with mapquest location of my house, and ive found a couple more entrants here, bringing us up to around 15 people.. making the total pot would be up to $75. if theres this many people, i can adjust the actual winning pot, as in 90% split instead of 80. also, ive been thinking, would you guys rather have 1rst and 2nd evenly split the pot? or 1rst get a little more than second? ie. if it was 80% split, instead of 40%/40%, 50%/30% instead? and if its from 90, 55%/35%? this would give a little more incentive / accomplishment to be 1rst. anyways, if any of you are a definite yes so far, start iming me, ill write your name down as definatly coming.

wait, why would it not be a 100% split? And 1st typically gets about 2 times what 2nd gets.

hm, well the other tournaments i browsed over mostly had 80% split, i thought it was kinda weird too, but prolly to pay for where its being hosted, altho since this is going to be at my house i dont really need that, which is why i changed it to be 90%, 90% of the current pot would be like $7 in which i could buy sodas and chips for everyone to have during this.
i guess ill make another psuedo poll:

A) 1rst place - 55% 2nd place - 35%
B) 1rst place - 60% 2nd place - 30%

60/30 sounds good to me. if these are biweekly, I may be able to convince my mom o let me drive myself up there sometime. -_- I've always said I wanted to win a tournament, even a small one. This would probably be a good chance lol. If i can somehow get to go anyway.

heh, i think of myself as a halfway decent player, but i always have terrible terrible luck at tournaments so far, at akon this year i entered both melee and soul cal. in soul cal they let me use my controller converter (i hate using xbox or GC controller for SC) but the guy i went up against was a total noob, but for some reason, when he was one hit from dead, he got one lucky hit in and i fell off the edge. guess what happened the second round? the exact same thing O_O then in smash, i made it to maybe the 2nd or third bracket, even tho at that point i was used to using a ps2 controller instead of GC and they wouldnt let me use it even tho they did in SC ;-; i think the match i lost in i had more self destructs than actual deaths -_- then in the gamecrazy tournament in bellmead i just did terrible, losing twice in the first round, even on the rematch. well anyways, here's to hoping my luck turns on home turf xD

also, anyone know of a simple way i could set up a site where people could submit if they're coming or not, with the ability to take themselves off if they change their mind? im thinking maybe a wiki type thing could work, since those allow anyone to edit them..

i ordered this convertor online, you plug a ps2 controller into it, and the converter can plug into either xbox or gamecube, since all three controllers have at least as many, if not less buttons than ps2, it translates out pretty nicely, but since then ive learned to use the gamecube controller for smash, because ps2's shoulder buttons arent pressure sensative like GC. but yea, try and make it if you can, the more people that come, the more people that'll show up next time~
