On October 15, 2005, there is going to be a tournament at the Salt Lake Community College. It is part of an Anime Convention so if you like anime, you can go there for that, too. I'm not sure about the prizes but if you want more information, click here! (http://www.animebanzai.com)

This will be a lot easier to get to than MLG LA. It's been a while since my last tournament.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I don't see a time or place for the Tornament on the schedule.

If you haven't pre-registered by mail yet (which the deadline in today), then you have to come there at 8:00 AM and pay the $8.00 to enter.

Curses. Leave it to me to find out about a tournament on the last day of registration, and then find out the deadline just barely too late. Ah well, if I don't have to work I'll be there, if not I'll hafta wait for the next one.

The Anime Banzai Convention will be held 3 times next year (this one is their very first one). If you miss this one, there will still be three next year. If you miss all three next year, too, then you must be very unlucky.

Shoot, I'm heading to MLG LA, so sorry to miss this. I'll try to make all the future ones though.

Don't worry about missing this one. I would much rather go to MLG LA.

But wouldn't it be hawt to hit both of them?! And I don't think I'll be getting too far in LA, let's hope Cali sucks as Smash.

Lol, hate to break it to ya, but cali = 1 of the top 3 smash states.

My LA plans have fallen through at the last minute (T_T) so now I'll be at this tourny. Your all going down!!!

omfg, that was one of the worst set of rules I have ever seen.

What were they?

FoxTheStampede

all battles were 3-way
all items on
only stage allowed: hyrule temple
no unlocked characters
single elimination

Huh. Hyrule is usually the one blocked, isn't it? No unlockeds wouldn't have been too hard on me, since my best characters are Kirby and Peach. How was the turn out/competition over all? What if any were the prizes?

FoxTheStampede

Yes, hyrule is banned on almost all tournaments on smashboards. The turnout was about 90 people. The prizes included an anime music video DVD, Kirby's Air Ride, a Yuna figurine, and a FF7 advent children figurine.

Yeah, that's the worst run tournament I've been to. To be fair, this is the first ever anime convention Utah's ever held, and the club that directed it wasn't prepared for such a large turnout. I had a ton of fun at the convention, and the tournament, lost to a good Link player in the semi-final. Wish I could have stayed around and played the other two finalists, and anyone else there wanting to free smash, but there's another gauranteed better local tourny coming up, so oh well.

Sad I missed you yet again, Fox. Since Gojira moved his tourny back, maybe me and a buddy can come play you this upcoming Saturday or something...

Hopefully their next one will be better organized. Smash this Saturday sounds good to me.
