Saint Paul, Minnesota Tourny [CANCELED] Aw CRepe!

BAD NEWS: Tourney is canceled. I've accepted a new job and since I get last dibs on schedule bids, I'm stuck with a Mon-Tue break instead of the traditional Sat-Sun. Sorry guys :urg:


No guarantees, but I think I just landed access to a huge room with electric outlets, tables and chairs (capacity about 200). I'm gonna have my sister help spread flyers to her high school and my bro will tackle U of M once I finalize the information (still contemplating date, time, etc.). If things go well and word gets spread, that's IF, I'm expecting 30-40 people, maybe more.

On the flyer, I'm asking people to email me so I have a good estimate of how many would come so I'll keep the MN/WI people updated here as the weeks roll by, to see there are enough people interested. We would just need help with providing extra TVs, GCs, and electric cords/surge protectors.

Like I said, if things go well, we'll have first annual University Ave SmashFest.

-October 29 is no longer available; already reserved
-New possible dates are: Oct 15 ( :urg: DIC2 so probably not), Oct 16, Oct 22, Oct 23, Oct 30, or even as far as the first Saturday/Sunday of November

-New possible dates are: October 22, 23, 30
-I hate to bring this up now, but I think all of the Saturdays in October are all booked already so it is more likely that this will take place on Sunday

I know there are a lot of St Paul Smashers out there. Is just that there's never really a big gathering to call out everyone. I'll be calling the organization this weekend to secure the place. That's the first important thing.

I will definitely be there, seeing as it is very close to my house. (I live on University Ave.) can you really get 30-40 people? Lets hope so. The end of the month seems like a great time to host the tournament.

Concerning money matches and entrance fee/prize money, I have to wait until I start sending out flyers before I make a decision. As the possible host, I have to seriously weigh advantages/disadvantages before final decision.


As for the place, well, it's a whacky place but they have chairs, tables, bathrooms, electric outlets, everything we need. I just don't want people to cringe when they hear the name (as well as assume that it's only for a certain "type" of people), that's all. Complete information will be revealed when I get a concrete reservation.

weekdays are generally a bad idea. Some people have school and fulltime jobs that make it difficult to make it on a weekday.
