Since MOast THere has not been a good tournament in Texas. What the **** is going on. The only person that actually trys to make big tournys now is fluffy, Fluffly is doign a good job liking it With www.smashex.com She is doing a good job i suggest people look into smashex , I know that TGA is suppose to be making one but wtf. Wheres Moast People? Make another one. San Antonio has a **** load people that play but i dont know if any are capable of making a tournament . Its pretty much a boring place if you play smash in Texas. **** I hardly play smash. ITs always halo2 madden , and School. IF we play smash its maybe once a week for a little while. Caveman lives in San Antonio, and Johnny(Lep) Lives in Austin. I only have zulu and smiles to play smash against and they always busy with school as well. Where the **** is SCAV and DCREW? San Antonio has small *** tournaments for the price of a video game. We need cash prices or something worth while. Xbox 360 maybe, now thats the ****. Regardless i am going to buy the 360. Smash is dying in texas and fast. BORING ****. Maybe if we have TOurnaments like SMYMS, FC4 people might be interested in coming to TExas. INstead we make everyone bored.
I sure that if you set the date right, and get a place, People from accross the country would come.. I can't do it i dont live in a big city. NO doubt we'll be there and i'll try to get people from around the country to come. , MIDWEST, east and west coast, and all of texas can make it to the tournament.
All the people i have met while playing smash made all those trips i took cross country and around my state worth while. TOO MUCH FUN. WHile i am at it i thank anyone who tried to help me and crystal city getting there. THANK YOU.
To San Jose, Chicago, Champaign, Houston, Austin, San antonio, Dallas, Baltimore, Washington DC, Las Vegas, soon i'll be going to ARizona, LA, NEW YORK, chicago again
lets see if texas can pull tru again and make a successful tournament
SMASHEX MAYBE

Man... thanks for the love, Rob. </sarcasm>
All of you come to Smashex2. enough said.
http://www.smashex.com
I don't know if nobody noticed or not, but I've been holding tournaments in Houston every month, and just the monthlies are getting bigger. Smash Extravaganza wasn't huge, but it was just the first go. even TG and MOAST had small turn outs their first time through!
I also made a webpage devoted to smashex! I've been talking to people left and right, promoting, trying to find people to provide housing and planning on making Smashex2 a tournament that people will want to come in from out of town for. But if people keep looking at it saying it's just a crap little tournament and don't go, then it'll never be big... Especially if people only come for the money.
Smashex2 is going to be bigger than the last, with a better pot, and will more importantly be A LOT OF FUN. No, there probably won't be a $2000 cash prize or something like that. But if you don't come, you can't win anything at all, can ya?
This tournament was STARTED as a tournament for and by the Houston smash community... I've been holding monthlies to bring them out and have successfuly done so! We've unearthed the BS Krew from Magnolia, TGM and Kailo and those guys from S..TD.. >.>; then there's my pals from South Houston, 4 of them at least and also some other guys from another part of Houston called the One Hit Wonders. My ***** Jedi. Vinnyman. Clever from Copperas cove is down here now, too... SO even if NOBODY comes in from out of town, if we have the newly uncovered Houston smash community as wel as those who attended the first Smash Extravaganza, we'll certainly have a nice sized tournament, anyway.
Monthlies have been raising money toward the pot.
If you don't want to come and have fun, that definitely anyone's choice... but MOAST isn't happening, and SmashEx is definitely going to be worth coming to.

I'd come if it were big enough. It would have to be big enough to get the rest of my crew to come though.

If you think Texas Smash is dying, try living in Oklahoma... Our Smash Community was D.O.A. right from the get-go. Seriously, its me, my friend Marc, and maybe three other guys who come to the boards who are truly serious about Smash... (Sometimes I think I'd be better off playing *shudders* Competitive Halo or some EA Sports game) So we've become dependent upon the Texas Smashers to provide us quality competition.
I have to say that you guys and gals (sup, Fluffy!) can throw some hella fun Smash-fests with some of the coolest people I've had the pleasure of playing against. I haven't played Smash seriously for almost a year, and I miss it dearly... I realize that a lot of the people who helped build TX Smash are now older and have jobs and families and other responsibilities that may be preventing them from setting up future tourneys. I also know how difficult it is to set up and maintain a tournament from my several failed attempts at getting one set up here at home, let alone doing that year after year... that's crazy dedication and love for the game right there.
However, I think we've all taken all that dedication and hard work for granted these last couple of years... I say its time for someone else to take up the challenge and organize a tourney in recognition of all the tournaments past. Let's face it, with the next-gen systems rapidly approaching and the oft-promised successor to Melee in development, SSBM's days are numbered-- Once Smash Revolution drops, people will turn their attention and efforts toward that and Melee will become just a museum piece, something to pull out as novelty, akin to a low-tier tourney; still fun to play, but not the main event. I'm as ready as anyone to open my arms and accept the sequel with as much fervor and exictement as I had for this one.
So, to close this overly long post, this game rocks and I've had a blast playing it and playing everyone else who loves it as much as I. There's still a ton of great Smashers out there I have yet to play, and if I could, I would quit my job and just travel the world playing all the great Smashers that live in it. Unfortunately, that ain't reality, but I do try my best to make it to as many tourneys as my life will allow. One day, maybe I will get to live out that crazy dream of mine, but until then, I could think of worse things than coming down to Texas every few months and going toe to toe with all the awesome Texan Smashers. You guys throw a hell of a party... and I'd hate to let it end before I've gotten blasted and thrown up at everyone's house... :chuckle:
FYI - SA and Converse hold smashfest with **** load of people very very often. Most turn outs are 20+ people. But you see you have people like. Austin, Vtown, Houston, Dallas, some of CC not going when we ask them to go. Or it would be all of Texas. Just like Friday we had a 30+ Tourney at a church. Cave was there **** load of SA , SAK and Converse. No one ever trys to make any effort in coming to our tournaments its either SAKVERSE goes there when other people make tourneys and when we make tourneys people dont want to waste the gas and drive 1-4 hours to play like we do. We try we put effort in for the whole texas community but no one puts effort in going. Fluffy is running houston tourneys and smashex <3 but you see houston tourneys. No one from Houston or Copperas would be willing to come down to SA? to make a 40+ show up?
lol, Dkrew is dead...
Silas quit for WoW and is always busy, CORY is always working now, I haven't heard from Kenshin in a while, Scav's in Houston, Drew's in College Station, and Chang's in Austin.
There's just not enough enthusiasm in Dallas/Ft Worth anymore

i think at this point, most smash guys are going through a burnout period...it happens with every competive fighting game...people just have other responsibilities to deal with now.....as far as SEX 2 is concerned, this will be the closest thing to our major tourny in the south..granted, Fluffy is putting a lot of time and effort into this tourny....the least we can do is show up don't you think?
i would be willing to put more time into smash, but at this point, there really isn't enough time...i'm too far behind to be on the competitive edge (i think so), although i am willing to give a lending hand to fluffy to run SEX 2
you guys need to understand that it isn't easy running a tourny of this magnitude...a big pot, advertising, and for us to even offer housing....takes a lot of effort and consideration....so at this point, we'll just have to see where things go from here.......but like i said, i believe it's just a burnout period...and even so, new smash heads are popping into the scene, so no worries there right?
also, Houston is the PERFECT place to host a major tourny....4th largest city in the world....and now since it will be at the very well endowed STARGATE, you ****ers can't miss this tourny...the best arcade in the country....it doesn't hurt to give it another shot....look at the Streetfighter scene..still going strong..
i like keeping it real like cheese my kneegrows! :chuckle:

Honestly, I'm thinking no one came down to San Antonio/Converse anymore is because of the horrific tournaments held down here, the GE series. Even I was embarrassed to live in SA during that time when those things went down. Horrible set ups, start times were always late, venue was small and crowded, no possible way of housing for a real 2 day set up, etc. the list goes on. But looking back, I know we evolved from that, we met new people around here, and know that we can actually get something going here, for real. We're not pulling your legs, this is no GE either, it's going to be the next big TX smash tournament. I mean, if we can already get THAT many people and only from SA, because GE never got that many, then I think it's possible to set something huge up, but it's only possible with TX's help and maybe the help of interested OOS. This weekend, we're going to visit the next best venue for hosting a big TX tournament here in San Antonio/Converse. It really looks to be very promising, it has the potential, GE doesn't even compare to what we're looking at.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, you need to give SA/Converse one last chance at something huge before all you guys depart your separate ways.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention about SEX2, Fluffy truly is putting hard work into her tournament. I do feel pretty bad for saying I won't make it, I said that out of my desire of not wanting to travel, but I really should reconsider and think about these things before I open my big mouth. If SAKVERSE pitches in for gas, and get the travel dates worked out, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to actually make it out to SEX2.
I came up with something, although it might be silly. If, and I truly hope we do, can get a big TX tournament going down here in SA, then I was thinking if it was going to be a couple or so months after SmashEX2, then maybe we could title it as; "TX's dying wish: The Last Big Melee Tournament" hosted by SA/Converse aka SAKVERSE aka FCNL2. Or something along those lines, IDK. Just throwing some ideas out.

THOSE IDEAS SUCK!!!! J/K
Yeah Texas do need another big tourney. The only thing that looks promising is TGA and S.EX2 which im considering going to. Im going to talk w/ the HOUSE about seeing what we can do up here in Big D. Maybe host something the same place MOAST3 was held.

tga can be big, i will ask tga's president to confirm the date and set up rules now. maybe we can get more out of state people going to that. their system can handle 128 people singles and teams smoothly.
