Finally, my 2nd tournament is confirmed.
It'll take place on the saturday 29th of october (it's during school holidays) in a large gymnasium.

FFT 1 had 73 participants and was a lot of fun, I am expecting more people this time.

To any foreigner willing to come, I can house you before and after the tournament, I don't know for how long though.
Just get to Paris via plane or train. There are several airports and stations

To the ones arriving in the Beauvais airport, you'll have to take the 13€ bus that will take you to Porte Maillot in roughly 2 hours, I'll pick you up from there.

To the ones arriving in the Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports, you'll have to buy a RER ticket to Paris and take the RER B to Gare du Nord in Paris, (depending on the train you take it takes around 20 - 35 min).
I'll pick you up at Gare du Nord

And the ones arriving in Gare du Nord will be picked up directly there too.

The participation fee is 5€, that'll make the cash prize.

The rules aren't definite yet.

Random Stages : FD, PS, YS, Kirby64, FoD.
Banned Stages : Icicle Mountain, FlatZone, Fourside, BrinstarDepths, Yoshi 64, Great Bay, Hyrule, Venom.

I'm planning to do a few rounds (swiss format) to get the top 32 people
rules in swiss rounds: best of 3, stage on random,3 stocks 5 minutes time limit, Sudden death if needed.
loser of 1 round gets to pick his character in 2nd for the next round.

Next will be a Double Elim. bracket or another set of swiss rounds, I haven't decided yet.. (it'll depend on the number of TVs I get and on the number of people coming)
Matches will be best of 5, 4 stocks, 8 minutes time limit, Stage Knock-out on,
loser of 1 round gets to counterpick with a character or a stage for the next round.
You can refuse a stage if it already came up previously in the set.

The cash prize will be distributed to the top 5 players.

I don't think there'll be time for other events.

Here's a link to the topic in the french board : http://cubeforum.adre.fr/viewtopic.php?t=316

That's it for now, post if you're interested.

You just killed DT11 ;__;

But I still wanna go ^__^

bornfidelity.com
09-22-2005, 03:35 PM
Yeah, this kindof eliminates DT11, unless it's held at least two weeks before/after. But maybe DT11 was even going to be somewhere November, maybe even December, Silver didn't confirm anything. If I'm not the only one of my crew able to make it, I'll be there (off course with some of my crewmembers, although I'm fairly positive not all can come... probably at least two people >_<)

EDIT: We'll probably be able to bring cube + game + memcard/person.

CaptainJack is very interested in this too =)

bornfidelity.com
09-22-2005, 03:42 PM
OMG Captain Jack is coming? Heck, now I'm going alone if I have to >_>'

Anyway, about the French site, I could decode most of it, but, err, I'm assuming details will follow in English? ^^

Doraki
09-22-2005, 03:52 PM
You can of course ask any question here... details will come, yes.

Hm, I'm kinda feeling I'm spamming this thread now, but, if I'm coming from Holland, I suppose I have to take the Thalys for train, and that's mighty expensive >_>' so maybe some easyjet flight will do. Anyway, with those flight, one can't be picky about dates, so we might arrive 1 or 2 days in advance. Would this be much of a problem? St. Lazarre is in Paris, I suppose, I'm sure we can get there, is it far to your place from there?

Joanna Dark
09-22-2005, 04:17 PM
the best you can do is arriving the day before the tourney and leaving the day after the tourney... but maybe doraki can handle some 2-days-before-tourney arrivals...
and yes, captain jack told me he was very interested in coming to this tournament haha ^^.

Helios
09-22-2005, 04:38 PM
This is on my holiday. If CJ goes, I'll be staying wherever he's staying!! lol XD

Doraki
09-22-2005, 05:17 PM
Well, seeing as I have no obligation from studies whatsoever, I can handle longer stays at my house, but I'd rather try to keep it to a minimum though. My family will be on holidays at that time and I think they'll come back on sunday evening.

Joanna Dark
09-22-2005, 08:12 PM
Helios, cj wants to stay at a girl's house... no one will be able to stay where he stays XD.

Nihonjin

Hmm sounds like fun, I might come to this if I find a way to collect some money >_>
What day is it anyway?

Joanna Dark
09-23-2005, 12:25 AM
29th october, saturday...
don't lose your passport also XD.

Nihonjin
09-23-2005, 02:01 PM

I'll try to not lose it this time XD

LOL just hope that there's a Dutch tournament before it so you can place second after Remen and collect 20% of the prize-money ^^

I don't expect DT11 in October anymore too be honest. It would be within a month and that would probably be too much hassle with renting a location and tv's, and plane tickets for foreigners. It's probably in November or December :/

Good point, too bad it is, but good point.

Joanna Dark
09-24-2005, 07:52 PM
I'm surprised not many people are interested in this tournament so far... come one guys, CJ might come (he said he wanted to O_o).
EK ! Remen !!! COME ON EK !!.

The problem is JD that the french dont speak english . . . which means theres a lack of conversation . . . therefore its rather boring U_U

09-25-2005, 08:48 AM
Stupid frenchmen, learn english >_>'

Makenshi
09-25-2005, 10:24 AM

Joanna Dark
09-25-2005, 01:14 PM
lots of french speak a little english but they feel stupid trying to speak it with an englishspeaker... AND they don't understand if you speak fluent english and fast XD.
but that's not a reason not to come -_-'

Helios
09-25-2005, 01:28 PM
>_>
I was able to conversate with like... 10 people at RT. And half of them weren't french >_>

Joanna Dark
09-25-2005, 01:32 PM

Yeah. 4-stock someone and hold 4 fingers up. That should deliver the message.

Just posting to say I can't come to this, the date doesn't suit me.

Helios
09-25-2005, 06:33 PM
LMAO that was too funny!
Anyway, really looking forward to this. My first big tournament since the US ^__^

MrSilver

navigation in Paris is easy for an english speaking person
LIES!!!!!

And I'm interested but not sure of attending.

Doraki
09-25-2005, 08:40 PM
Lmao @ Telpefion

MrSilver, why do you say that ?
The machines selling tickets are in both english and french, reading a map isn't very difficult and there are signs everywhere..

Joanna Dark
09-25-2005, 08:41 PM
yeah helios, that should do the trick. You'll be able to 10-stock some people here... in Paris, there are a lot of noobs XD.

MrSilver
09-25-2005, 08:50 PM
They have like 7 different machines and non of em sell one way tickets, the maps and generally layout are confusing in any language and even the person working there who we asked for help, who spoke English and French, had to ask some people at a store to help us on our way. Don't tell me Paris is easy to navigate...

grayfox

DT11 now confirmed to be pwned i'm interested. Will be there 100% if the rest of Mafia go.

Paris is easy to navigate, they are much of assistance for the tourism beacause they are much tourism in paris

LIES!!!!!

And I'm interested but not sure of attending.

I second that "LIES!!!!!"!

I don't think Ek will go actually (unless CJ goes). He's not much for travelling >_>'. Well this will be interesting. FFT2 in October, Kone's in November, DT in December and RoofSM in January.

Anyways, who wants a teammate? Helios, wanna team if Ek isn't coming? You can do a lot worse :P. I'll also be pengzmatching people >_>'. Any takers?

And what the heck will happen to CJ coming to my tourney if he's coming to this one? It's pretty much out of the question for him to attend mine then unless someone houses him for a month and 3 days.

Helios
09-26-2005, 06:46 AM
Wth, Kones tournament isn't happening in November!
And wouldn't CJ have to stay for TWO months if he's to attend FFT2 and Roofsm without leaving Europe?

Doraki
09-26-2005, 06:49 AM
Yuna, we won't have time to do a team tournament at the tourney..

bornfidelity.com
09-26-2005, 08:15 AM
No teams? DOH
Make it last longer ^^

And navigating in Paris SUCS, I asked a dozen of people where to find a record store on the Champs d'Elysees and

...NO-ONE KNEW

Joanna Dark
09-26-2005, 12:07 PM
yeah no teams, because not enough time, and we can't change that (if we could, we would :p).
and Captain Jack do whatever he wants, but believe me, he prefers France ^^.
I see more people gain interest... awesome !
oh and Nihonjin, congrats on being second at AMT1... got enough money to come and see us in France? XD.

Yuna, EK told me he would come if he could have "gay tickets" though Helios and take the same plane XD. that's all I know.
