I like to edgeguard with the f-air, or by spamming the f-tilt. Sffling b-airs off the edge works for me as well, and even shffling the u-air works.

I usually use B-air or f/d-tilt.Against some characters, I tend to space out a bit to nail their ledge moves with a Fortress

sometimes i use the fire breath so they wont hav a chance to get back. then i know they won't die i use a smash attack to finish the battle.

SHFFLed Bair is a good edgeguard.

That's probably one of the worst arguments anyone has ever made to justify a move as good/poor. It works fine as an edgeguard, and it does have that semi-spike trajectory.

If the person can sweet spot and gets below the ledge early enough that jumping out after them is unsafe, I'll usually try to flame.
If I'm leaping out after them, it's a fair.
If they're just trying to get past me or they're just desperate to try to get on (e.g. falcon when he's pretty far away), usually ftilt or bair.

I don't think Luke doesn't use the bair because it sucks. I think he doesn't use it much because the people he usually plays against are good enough to sweet spot consistently, and space well enough that he'd have to jump off the ledge with the bair in order to hit them with it. Because of the lag, it's not exactly a move that's easy to jump off the ledge with and still recover.

B-air is a great move to use as an edgeguard. Sure it might not rock as much as the f-tilt, but all you have to do is wait for the opponent and b-air them and you got your KO.
