I was wondering if there was anyone who knows a use for Luigi's fireball, or is it just plain useless.

there are plenty of uses. i sometimes use it before i get back on the stage to interrupt edge-guarding. sometimes it's good if you can short-jump fireball and hit someone when they're on their way down and combo an air attack into it. most of the time i just use it to piss 1337 off. it's ok on teams. say someone forward or back throws an enemy, if you fireball them right out of the throw, the thrower can get a forward smash off.

I'm no expert or even close to, but when I fight my brother's Link the Fireball comes in really handy. Since I play with him all the time I know when he throws his boomerang and can immediately stop it from getting more than an inch or two from him.
That's just one application. You can use it to force a player to shield or step back when you are coming to the edge, allowing you to make it back to the stage.
It's too bad the Fireball wasn't made any better, it has got some uses but it has got to be one of the worst projectiles in the game. Better than none I guess...

I have no idea how, but I once used it to cancel a Samus' NAir and use my NAir to KO them.

you can also steal kills in time mode but it's not like anyone plays time instead of stock...

You can use it to cancel fox or falcos illusions. My friend did it to me when i was off stage i hit the fireball and was forced to use fox fire and he killed me.

u can use the fireball to disrupt missile and projectiles going towards u.

I definitely use it when people are off the edge. just one more thing for them to run into, and for me its less risky then going after them with a aerial attack.

*canceling smashes(mid-range on quicker characters can only follow up with f-tilt,luigi cyclone and a.
*baiting rush in(doesn't work on C.falcon)
*stoping aerial rush-in(Works best on C.falcon to discourage spiking)
*creating aerial barriers and lores(to set up)
*recovery(stops shine spikes etc.)
*baiting choppers(mind games)
*stopping a fully charged Samus blast(as soon as it comes out of your hand)
*certian swordy moves are ALWAYS BEAT by fireball(marth's charge b and up-b)
*stops Falcon Punch(as soon as it comes out hitting at the same time)
*complicates edgeguarding(Marios is not as good in this)
Its a little tricky with swordy people but can still be useful.
