Why does luigi suck?

A lot of pro's don't use luigi..i hear most ppl will use mario over him. Luigi's faster and his chop is sweet. The WD is awesome and his air combos are better than mario's. The only real problem is that his recovery isn't taht great with the green rocket, and mario's cape is superior. He's really not that bad is he?

Um... no... they have different aerial games, but Luigi's is better than Mario's. Luigi floats, so he can stuff a lot of aerials into his jumps and shorthops.
Luigi moves faster on the ground, but Mario is faster overall, mostly because of his falling speed.
Luigi is just quirky, and not the best character. His ground game is suspect, recovery subpar, throws not as great, and projectile next to useless. And the cape of course.

Because it seems he comes on to me everytime I play him...
On a serious note, I think Luigi is as good if not better than Mario because Luigi has a much superior punishing move, flaming uppercut, as opposed to fireball smash attack. Luigi is also more deadly in the air, no need to L-cancel because of the minimal lag time on his moves (except for his nair sex kick).
But I still like Mario more, because Luigi is a pain in the ***, since I'm a Link/Young Link player, it sure does it suck to get punished when I miss ole hookie.

I personaly think that no one charactor can be said to "suck". All charactors have there ups and downs, it all depends upon the person who uses them. Why else can young link beat fox almost hands down? Yet the tiers say that shouldn't be possible. If you really enjoy a charactor, then use him to his fullest and make the pro's look like fools.

You know nothing of the tiers. Top Tier != instant win. Apparently, you think that's how it is, but people who actually know about the game don't. Fox and Sheik will be superior to most of the cast, but that doesn't mean they automatically win 100% of the time. Otherwise, you'd see nothing but Foxes, and yet here you are on the Luigi board and *whoamfg* there are people here.

1. If Character X beats the entire cast easily but loses to Y, X is still superior OVERALL. Counter characters and specific good matchups aren't taken into account, really.
2. All characters have their ups and downs, sure, but some have more ups and some have more downs. Thus, tiers.
3. I suck with Fox. That doesn't make Fox suck. Player skill is important, but if you think it magically changes the coding of the game, you are horribly mistaken. Some attribute spreads and movesets just happen to work better than others. Deal.

Before you come to Smashboards and call the pros fools, you may want to at least harbor some sort of knowledge of the game and the people/things you scoff at.

No he dosent suck i use him its all about control. Everyone has their ups and downs u learn how to use him correctly u can be the best with him. I played against MIKE G's luigi and it is amazing the sickest thing i have ever seen.

How is it that no one has mentioned his wavedash yet? Luigi can pull some crazy combos and can play some great mind games with his wd. More advanced players can use it to fit in otherwise-impossible UpB's. Want to make Luigi good? Stop sucking and stop using the Tier Lists as a second Bible.
