I play Mar io well, not Kirby, and Kirby is another favorite of mine, yet I suck.Could I get some tips on how to play him.I can't really say against who cause the friend I play with is skilled in all the characters he has which is everybody except Mewtwo and Mr. Game and Watch.

I always try to use b first. It's a general thing for me playing Kirby, and it works against th PC.I just gotta remember that its a person I'm playing against.

Just check around this forum a bit. I've made plenty of helpful posts regarding strategies and tactics, and a number of other people have as well.

Don't worry about getting a B attack right away. Get it if you have the right time. Just concentrate on doing Kirby's other moves. I stress that you should use Kirby's smash attacks a lot and charge them as much as possible.

Err charging smash attacks frequently is just asking to get pummeled. Use the Cstick for quick smashes. Especially downsmash.

^ yea, so do i. about all i can do is play the cpu, and against them, charged smash attacks are pathetically easy to pull off, though charged smashes with kirby hav worked quite well against my one friend, who is a yoshi expert

There are some uses with charging the usmash and dsmash, but for people that are just beginning to use Kirby, it's simply better to not charge at all ^_^

This is From Omnigamer, all of it belongs to him, its his work, i'm just bringing it here.
Down Smash has a nice long framecount. The attack frames will usually last the duration of an opponent's sidestep, and then some, garunteeing a hit if the opponent sidesteps it. For most characters too, it'll push them away from Kirby if they shield just far enough so that they can't shield-grab him. For the most part it's a safe move, but you don't want to abuse it.
I very rarely use forward smash. Could just be me, but I don't like it too much. One use for it that I've been playing around with in my head though (haven't tried to use it effectively much), is using it to counter if an opponent is chasing you. If you're running away and your opponent dashes after you, simply press down quickly when you think they're the right distance away, then use the cstick to smash towards them. Works well in theory, but I haven't played around with it too much yet.
And for usmash, it has some useful positions for Kirby. My main example is this: charge an usmash against Shiek. Doesn't matter if they're not close to you at the moment, just charge it. Chances are that they'll walk close to you but just out of range, waiting for the move to finish to get a clean grab in. After the move is released, they'll rush forward and try to grab you before the end lag finishes. However, the grab will whiff. This is because, if you watch closely, Kirby will automatically go into a small duck animation right after the attack itself is finished. After they whiff the grab, it's your turn to get a free grab in. I also haven't tried too much with this, but it's worked every time I've tried it so far. And if they're stupid enough to walk into the initial charged smash, even better for you.

i find that the A button moves seem to work best with me as well as grabbing and throwing people around. :) very fun

u gatta get in very close, and that can be tricky... on small stages u shouldnt have much of a prob...
u can play defensively ducking and waiting for them to come, but then u have probs with spammers, a good triagle jump helps to get in close, u just have to play around with it a bit

You shouldn't try to get in close, but instead just stay around the farthest range for most of Kirby's tilts. Unless you can goad them into jumping into one of your aerials, it's usually best to beat back approaches with tilts and grab when you see an opportunity.
As omni said, u must stay at the farest range u can get. Downtilt is a very good attack since kirbys legs are very long and its a nice attack because the opponent flys a bit up so u can combo him. I also like to do a low Fair at opponents because u kick trice, so u'll be alble to hit at least once. I don't recommend doing a lot of smashes, but if u have the time, >smash can be a good solution (both for strenght and range).
