pika vs. sheik

can anyone give me any good ideas about how to play sheik. She can chain-throw pika up to around 80% and then pika is ready to die. How can you avoid this from happening?

Thats a tough question to ask. To counter the chainthrow, all you can really do is avoid being vulnerable. Keep to the air: neutrals and uairs and make sure you land behind your opponent. L cancel so you dont lag. tech your landings. All in all every character has a problem beating sheik, and since Pika isnt the best... you're at more of a disadvantage than most. I found that once at a tournament the novelty of playing pika can be put to use. Just keep your opponent on their toes, not knowing what to expect. Stay offensive and move a lot, because a sheik can tear through a defensive playstyle. In the end it will be a battle of wits over skill.

bluntly put yeah... what I said was optimistic, playing a good sheik is pretty much a definite loss.

Against sheik dont let yourself get grabbed...if you do DI untill you get to the edge of the stage or even better is DI one direction for like 2 throws then DI the opposite direction the third throw..you can usually fool the sheik into thinkin you will keep goin in one direction..if they can catch on to this well then your stuck DI'ing to the edge. When playin sheik i do not get grabbed much because im usually moving way to much to be grabbed. Once you learn how to play a sheik with pika it actually becomes pretty easy to beat her(well not exactly easy, but its not hard).

Pretty much what they said. Getting grabbed by sheik is as good as death to pika. When playing a sheik, i'll usually try to stay near an edge, while still being a wonderfully eratic and mobile pika, so that if i do get grabbed, she won't be able to chain me more than twice. This can also be helpful if you manage a grab -> backthrow, then edgeguard. I find you can usually chase sheik off the edge and, if you can avoid her quick & painful aerials, knock her out a bit farther with a nair/dair/uair and edgehog. Or, trick her into thinking you'll land back on the stage and then upB to the ledge while her upB is being pulled off. Your upB is faster, so you'll beat her there and edgehog.

But yeah, against a good sheik you don't have much hope. Pika's worst matchup in my opinion.
