Considering that all the other characters have this, why not ask it here?

Right now, as it stands, Kirby's best stage in general opinion if DK64, for a number of points proven by Omnigamer. Worst? This has yet to be decided, and otehr good stages may be up for discussion as well.

My views for his good stages are DK64, FD and Peaches Castle.

My views on his bad stages include Yoshi story, any Kingdom levels, or Mute city.

Also, if your nominating a stage for best/worst, please at least make it a tourney legal one, if your jsut saying a good stage, it doesn't matter, but for discussion, Tournament stages would be preferred.

I have a few stages that I'll generally use to get the better of my opponents (aka my counterpicks), but I'd rather see what everybody else does before I bring in my stuff :-)

Any map that's not very small, has platforms, and tricky for your enemy to hit you using projectiles.

DL64. Its Kirby's Home-turf advantage... FoD because you can go down low and SPIKE! and still recover...

Nobody's hit the #1 Kirby stage yet! Keep looking!

Ok, i'll guess.
Icicle mountain? Peach's Castle? Kongo Jungle? Termina? Yoshi's Story? FoD? Corneria? Super Flat World? Rainbow Cruise? Jungle Japes? Temple? Yoshi's Island? Green Greens? Venom? Brinstar? Onett? Mute City? Pokemon stadium? Mushroom Kingdom? Brinstar Depths? Fourside? Big Blue? Poke Floats? Subcon? Battlefield?!, FD? DL64? YS64? DK64?

I actually find Peach's Castle fun, you can setup with the twoer, or knock them against a wall, etc.

Battlefield... That would be my best guess... Omni's playing games with us. :dizzy:

3. Peach's Castle

2. Rainbow Cruise

And the number 1 Kirby stage (IMHO)...

hyrule temple is good when you fight more than one other person because kirby can get away easy and come in when everyone has 1 or 2 lives left. and throw stuff 2 :chuckle:

I'd say my favorite Kirby stages, in no particular order, are Yoshi's Island 64, DK 64, Brinstar Depths, and Dreamland.

Just to let you know now, since you seem to be new to the boards, Brinstar Depths and Yoshi 64 are banned at all tournaments ^_^;

What makes DK64 Kirby's best stage?

Omnigamer
07-29-2005, 10:38 PM
Very well-placed platforms, far walls, high cieling, sloped middle, barrel of life, and a floor that Kirby can shark under = best Kirby stage

Ok. What are the platforms well placed for?

I knew that, but I thought it was meant for all stages, not just tournament legal ones. Sorry, I misunderstood I guess.

a floor that Kirby can shark under
Yes! I love doing that! One of DK's other stages (I can't remember its name) is good for that too. I think when Kirby's down there they should switch the music to the Jaws theme.

there should be a poll on this thread

DeathscytheHello

Hmm... I never really considered DK64 as a stage choice for myself, but now that you mention it, it does sound like a good choice.

nitro-blazer
07-31-2005, 01:02 AM
DK64 is counter-pick, right? I never seen it in any matches, so i assumed it was illegal.

Dodger
07-31-2005, 01:23 AM
I think any stage not explicitly banned is allowed as a counter pick, but I could be wrong.

Heh, I'm sorry about my newbish questions. I'll try and explain my tohughts on DK64. I'm not disagreeing that it's Kirby's best stage (afterall, who am I to disagree with omni? :-) But...

Sloped terrain can work against you. I play shiek a lot of the time and I hate sloped terrain 'cause my friend can use it to needle me when I'm crouching. I *hate* that. I know what you're going to say, "Keep him out of the middle". So it would seem my choices are a close quarters melee with Shiek, or death by needles.

I don't think the platforms are that well placed. If you mean the tall stationary ones, why? It takes two jumps to get into position for an uair which probably gives your opponent enought time to block or get out of the way. And as for the rotating ones, I can't really think what they would be well positioned for since they rotate. So those are my thoughts, anyway. I await the corrections of my misconceptions :-).

I don't know how to do polls. >_> I think they were removed.

ok then...no poll....and watching isai'a kirby makes it look like platform just get in the way..

DeathscytheHello

Couldn't you just normally block the needles?

silentmovie-kirby

probably Hyrule Temple because there's lots of room.

Omnigamer
08-02-2005, 02:25 AM
That generally doesn't help Kirby though >_>

I'll further put points on why I think DK64 is the number one stage later, as I'm on vacation right now and this internet system annoys me ^_^;

ill help out omni.
DK64 is good for kirby because
its kind of a tall level, so kirby wont die as easily from vertical attacks.
upper platforms near the edge are an added bonus for edgeguarding, provides for more mobility for bairs near the edge.
IF for some reason you cant get back to the edge (rare with kirby), his jumps allow more time to wait for the barrel to scoop you up (not a huge deal, but its there)
bairs/uairs/swallow UNDER the level? TOP TIER
i dont really play on this level that much, but thats just what i'd assume. omni probly knows PROVEN methods...im actually not even good im just all talk anyway :chuckle: :chuckle:

DeathscytheHello
08-02-2005, 11:38 AM
G-Reg, you named the same points I was thinking of. I'd also add that while under the stage, your opponent can't see you or know exactly where you are. So even if they can spike you, they have to hit the right spot and at the right time. They can't easily defend your attacks, and you can Final cutter your way back up, usually giving you enough time to re-adjust because they either block the beam or get hit by it. Or they get slowed down, in any case.

I still like Brinstar Depths, even though it is banned. The lack of edges screw many people, but not Kirby. Kirby can easily move through that stage. And Brinstar Depths actually makes the rock somewhat useful! It's the quick and strong way to move from here to there on that stage. It can sometimes hit the opponent twice in one drop due to the slopes. And you'll just slide off the edge, making it so when you break out of the attack, you'll be off the edge, usually away from other attackers. And if someone feels like trying to be a jerk and live under that one platform, Kirby just goes down there and takes out the trash!

either stage is good ...btu,honestly...every stage IS kirby's best stage..even the ones with low ceilings...like yoshi's island....its actually a perfect stage for kirby...you just gotta know how to work it

Thanks g-regulare for elaborating a bit more. Out of curiosity, how does the other DK level with a barrel fare as a Kirby stage?

Edit: Yeah you're right DeathScythe I could block the needles. I really didn't word that right at all. See, when I play my friend, I prefer level terrain so I have the option of a slow ground approach as well as an aerial approach. When I approach from the air I get shield grabbed 90% of the time so I like to have the ground option open to me. And unlevel terrain takes that away from me. Maybe when I can L cancel better it won't matter so much. If I just stay away and block, he'll just eat away my shield.

DeathscytheHello
08-03-2005, 04:37 PM
Yeah, about the "not being able to see thing" about DK 64, that was a mistake. They can see you... it is just harder for them to know what is coming.

As for the new barrel stage, that is not good for Kirby. The walls are very close... not a good thing for a light character.

GoVonzell
08-03-2005, 06:35 PM
I would say the moving stages because they epitomize Kirby's strategy...adapting to the situation.
