Yes, we’re having a melee comp, but there will also be a Dance Dance Revolution competition going on at the same time. There is a chance for a Tekken 5 tourney, but that is still being worked out.

First one to tell me where the ruleset is from gets a cookie.

•Double Elimination
•All matches are best of 3, with finals best of 5.
•4 stock, 8 minute limit
•Ties broken by lives/percentage
•Items OFF

•Stages/Characters:
••Stages limited to the 7 neutral stages for random, others open for counterpicks.
••Neutral stages: Final Destination, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Rain-bow Cruise, Kirby 64, Pokemon Stadium
••Stages banned: Hyrule Temple, Fourside, Flatzone, Brinstar Depths, Icicle Mountain, and Yoshi's Island 64, Big Blue
••Dave's Stupid Rule: No stage may be used twice in a single match, either by random select or by picking
•Knock-out: Each person knocks out one stage for entire set. This stage must be selected at the beginning of the match, after initial characters have been chosen.
•Advanced Slob Picks - Loser may choose the next stage or elect to go random, then winner may choose to change characters, then loser may change characters
•Double Blind pick may be called at any time

Other Rules & Special Issues

-- Controller mods of ANY kind (short-hop mod, L-trigger mod, etc), except for cosmetic changes (paint job, different colored plastic), are banned. If you are caught using a banned controller you will be disqualified from the tournament.

-- Turbo or programmed buttons of any kind are banned. You may use third party control-lers or pads that have these features, but if you are suspected of using the banned features you will not be allowed to use that controller any longer.

--Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo's Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the match or makes it in any way unfinishable are banned. Using them will result in the immediate forfeit of the match.

-- Tactics such as Peach's Wallbombing and Jiggly's Rising Pound are allowed as methods of recovery or to manuever around the stage. Using them (or any similar tactics) to exces-sively stall a match, such as droping below levels intentionally and stalling underneath, is banned. Judges will be on the tournament floor can be called in at any time to enforce this rule during a match.

--You are responsible to BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER.

And to add one more ruling…

I am helping Jonas with the DDR portion of the tournament, which might include taping matches at times. He is expecting me to help him out a lot in the early parts just to get the tourney flowing, and I intend on helping him as much as possible, since I created the rules for the DDR tourney. I’m sure that if I take ShadowBTZO with me to the tourney, he’ll help run the matches as well.

But that’s besides the point.

GET YOUR ***** AZZ MELEE SELF THERE ON TIME! I am not going to scramble like I did with MBT6 where I was nice enough to put four late mofos (could have been six) into the brackets, and then keep rearrainging the brackets to prevent double jeopardy. If you do not show up to the tourney the moment the first round of matches starts, you are not getting in and I will not make exceptions.

If you call me on my cell phone and say you’re on your way, I might (might) hold up the tourney for you, but it depends on what else is going on and if I even am able to answer my cell phone.

= = =

As with any melee tourney, I’ll need help with TVs. I’ll keep a list of who can bring what, but please please please please help a brotha out. We'll need at least 4 TVs and 4 GCs.

The list
The arcade: 1 TV
Me: 1 TV and 1 GC
BTZO: 1 GC
Ender: 2 TVs and 1 GC
Simma ibn sid: 1 TV and 1 GC
Hyuga: 1 GC (maybe)
Marthby87: 1 GC
LunInSpectra: 1 GC
Volroth: 1 GC
The King: 1 TV and 1 GC

= = =

If we have time after the tourney, I’ll try to put together a little Mario Kart competition, or we can do melee teams.

= = =

Those who have reserved a copy of MBT6 (on this and other forums):

BTZO (got his)
FFM (got his)
A Perfect Circle
Marthby87
Hyuga

K, I'm going to try to make it to this, which if I do, I will supply a cube and game.

However, I might be helping run a somewhat noobish tourney in San Jose the same day. One of the guys that ruan console gaming at Fanime is having some tournament at his house, with many fighting games involved, and he might need my help for melee, so...I'll see how that's gonna work out before I promise anything. This is it:

Yay for 4 stock!

ShadowBTZO

I can more than likely supply a cube, if I go, but I'm pretty sure I'll be going.

TV/GC helpage updated.

There is no money incentive to sign up for the tournament, but I think there's a signup sheet at Paradise Island. I've been told that there will be a few people who don't post here competing.

I forgot to mention,

Anyone who wants a copy of MBT6, let me know. But you have to show up to the tourney to get it.

A list is started on the first post.

I'll bring a 5x5" TV and a cube if I go, but I need transportation.

Like bob$, I'll pay for gas, and give some CRUXIS tricks :)

I'm located in San Francisco | Daly City. I can take bart to concord/richmond etc.

Simna ibn Sind

Paradise Island (some know it as The Point) is a mini-golf/bumper cars&boats/arcade place, so, while this tournament isn't advertised, we may have some entries from random gamers.

Marthby87
07-23-2005, 02:15 AM
LOL Horray @ random gamers!! More noobs for us to MM and retire from!

The Game II
07-23-2005, 03:16 AM
marthby: MBT6 = Monterey Bay Thunder 6. It's my baby. The tournament was July 3 in Scotts Valley, won by Silent Spectre.

sheridan: noted and noted

luninspectra: I'll need a bigger tv than 5x5 unless you mean feet, lol

simma: I forgot to mention, but KMAX is helping out with the tournament. Scott Fera (some on air personality) will be the emcee for the ddr comp, but I think he could make a stop by the melee comp just to hype it. I know that the lead TO is creating posters and whatnot.

everyone else: if you want a copy of MBT6, please let me know by the end of the weekend. I'll be making tapes all day Saturday and Monday for people.

Geo will be coming to me.

I'm Geo BTW.

If Kev$ is back from Tahoe by then, then he will come too.

Who's coming to this anyways? Anyone I should watch out for?

EDIT: Put me down for 1 GC.

Oh yeah, ender are you guys going to this? Can I bum a ride? I can meet you at the capitol like I did last time.

Simna ibn Sind
07-23-2005, 06:36 AM
I don't know, Geo. That's asking a lot...

Paradise Island is like...8 whole minutes from the capitol!

LunInSpectra
07-23-2005, 04:01 PM
Geo I'm coming, I've got 1 main transportation source, and 1 backup.

Now like you said before:

Battle for title under Isai & DBR of NorCal.

LunInSpectra Vs. Geo!

Volroth

LunIn....don't forget your record vs my GW....mwahaha.....
I'd put SS in before myself anyhow.

The King
07-24-2005, 03:19 AM
Count for The King and his brother Irish to join this tourney. If you guys need another one, I can haul a 20"er and a cube with me to this thing. And I'm rallyin' for a chance at top Norcaler, I'll be repping True Jiggly Power like none othah.

The Game II
07-24-2005, 05:00 AM
Volroth: noted

The King: Yeah, TVs and GCs are much needed. Thanks for the offer.

I talked to the lead TO today and he's very excited that this is going to happen. He can't wait to see some of you guys go at it because he missed the action at MBT6.

--GCII

LunInSpectra
07-24-2005, 05:47 PM
lol Alright then...It looks like more people are joining in for some NorCal Top Player under DBR & Isai.

Tang, Geo, LunIn, Silent Spectre, Hyuga, and King.

Anybody else want to enter in for the competition?

Nephilim
07-24-2005, 09:05 PM
I'll take you guys out some other time, I have to work.

Looks like my co worker had already asked for that day off and I gotta cover his shift so that means I can't go.

Who's going to MLG Vegas from NorCal BTW? I'll fight you there.

Out of all the things going on in NorCal I will only be able to make it to Zoap Tourney and 666s smashfest.

Oh yeah, I take my drivers test Wed., wish me luck!!

Simna ibn Sind
07-24-2005, 09:50 PM
not going geo? AWWWW! poop

Lunin: im hurt...*sniff*

Zivilyn Bane
07-24-2005, 10:10 PM
Wow it looks like some good people will be going. I'm gonna try hard to make it to this one.

Also, I'd like to enter whatever this BEST PLAYER UNDER DBR AND ISAI thing is too, but I'm not too sure if I count as NorCal. I wouldn't wanna be in a BEST PLAYER IN CENTRAL CALI kinda thing cause yeah, that's just too easy. Can somebody explain to me what this is all about.

Geo, I'll be at MLG Vegas, so we'll play there. I believe I've gotten much better since B4N, so I can't wait to play you again. Last time I believe my Peach went either 2-3 or 2-4 against your Falcon so we'll see what happens this time.

Is there going to be Teams? If so, does anybody want to team with me? Will? You're my main choice. If not then maybe Lunin? We gotta rep Cruxis man.

LunInSpectra
07-24-2005, 11:03 PM
lol simna...you can take geo's spot in the small competition.
yeah bane you can enter.

Simna, LunIn, Hyuga, Tang, Bane, and King.

The list will keep growing I'm sure.

I might be able to team with you Bane, if Danny won't, and if Ron teams with Alvin, probably.

I really can't wait to play you Bane. The last time I played you was Before MLG SF at danny's house!!11!!1!!!!one!!!!

So I look forward to this :)

EDIT:
The best smasher under DBR & Isai is a small competition Geo and I wanted to have at B4N. We would get the title, and someone in Norcal/and now central cal, would have to challenge us to take it away. The people who can't enter are: People in DBR/Isai, people from SoCal/outside of the state. Its like a boxing championship, but for smash!

SadPanda
07-25-2005, 05:15 PM
Sounds pretty cool. OxY. and I will be there for sure. Or at least we should be... No DBR... Sounds fun now!

Alright can anybody estimate how many people are going to be there?

ender
07-26-2005, 06:58 PM
Anyone can, the question is may you.

I dont think it will be a very big tourney. Ive heard that DBR is NOT going, neither is Tang, geo and sad panda said he has to work.

LunInSpectra
07-26-2005, 08:35 PM
So its basically, local scrubs, some BP, some TeamScape, Some Cruxis...about 20 something people?

So its basically, local scrubs, some BP, some TeamScape, Some Cruxis...about 20 something people?
Uh...it seems, from what I have heard from other people, that there will be probably around 30 something people coming to this tournament. I am going (obviously cuz I am the "tournament official"), as well as 3 other people from Salinas (The Game II excluded, because obviously he is going).
