The tournament is designed to give new players an insight into the smash game and community, teach them new skills, fun friendlies and a competitive tournament aswell; so that those players that have not made a tournament before can really test their skills.

People should not be afraid to come to the tournament if they are new to the game or intimadated that there is a tournament. 90% of those that will be there have not been to tournaments either. There will also be alot of freeplay if you don't wish to enter the actual tournament aswell as old hands like myself available to help you with the game ^_^.

Date: Saturday 3rd of September.

Entrance Fee: 10 pound. This covers both your entrance fee for singles tournament and your contribution to hall rent.

Rules:

*4 Stock.
*8 minute time limit, if match goes to the limit winner is on % NOT sudden death.
*Matches are Best of 3 games.
*First match is random stage. Loser gets to pick next stage or change character but not both!
*Random Stage between : final destination/pokemon stadium/dreamland.
*Following stages are BANNED can not be used at all: hyrule temple/great bay/icicle mountain/brinstar depths/big blue/mushroom kingdom 1 and 2 /flatzone/yoshis island 64/fourside.
*Any other stage can be picked as counter stage.
* 5Singles winnings split between 1/2/3 50/30/20.
*No stage can be played twice per match.
*In doubles TEAM ATTACK IS ON.
*Double Elimination.

Tournament Schedule:

The hall has been rented from 12 - 8 pm. Registration for Singles will open from 12.30 onwards and will close around 1.40pm. Singles will then start at 2pm. YOU MUST ARRIVE TOR EGISTER IF YOU EXPECT TO COMPETE IN SINGLES. Once singles is finished there will be a short break before we hold a doubles tournament. Before 2pm and after doubles has finished there will be free time for friendlies.

If you are bringing a tv please aim to come for 12. It makes it alot easier for me and ant to set everything up before others arrive.

Equipment:

We weill be needing cubes with game and memory card aswell as TVs. Please say if you can bring either and I can add it to the list. We are looking to get around 10 TVs. At least 4 good 28 inch tvs are needed. Please tell me if you can bring tvs and/or youc an drive and could possibly help drive tvs to venue location.

Yeah sounds good. I know of a place we could use for tourneys, fits 100+ people. It's in South East London.
Also, if people could say where in London they live aswell.

I'm at South East London, near Greenwhich Park (Where the London Marathon begins).

I'm good, I can bring Boo Tone and Heyu to the game too, pretty decent players. Be the first torney I've been to on my own turf!

We're from northern london, Stokey area (yeah, hackney, sorry). Got a few ideas where we could do this, from central to areas around here, but lets see how many people are up for it, it's not like you can't get anywhere in london for pittance

If someone could actually find a venue that would be perfect. We could get a mini-tournament going. If the venue could be rented for a night ie sat-sun it would be easier for those coming from further afield or if someone could house a few people.

Zactly. Everyone started off somewhere. Once you get there you'll be havin' loadsa funness. Tourney experience is brill for more than just the smash too. Jus' gettin' away and having afew days pissing around and playin' smash=wesome.

So, maybe we should start brainstorming ideas fro venue. Lorepath maybe you want to look into the places you've thought of? then maybe we can start thinking of a date. Its alot easier attracting people online if we have a date / can then advertise inlocal unis/schools/gameshops.

There will be a tournament but there'll be alot of time dedicated to freeplay and tvs just for freeplay. Plus you don't have to participate in the tournament if you don't want to. Furthermore alot of those their will be new players so they shouldn't stress over the skill level there ^_^

Basically I started this thread to start the ball rolling. Get people that play smash in the South posting in one thread. Ive accomplished that.

The next aim is booking a venue. This is where I need help. Im six hours North of London. Somebody needs to look into booking a place for August 26/26th weekend , Sept 3/4 . One of them weekends I think would work best for people. The august weekend probably more preferable. A venue for two days that we can use over night is best. If not a day venue would still be good. Anywhere that we can all meet up ! ^^.

After that I can start informing everyone ive spoken to about the date and start organising equipment. I think lorepath said he may look into getting a games shop to help out (for tvs , if anyone has any other ideas to get tvs say) and others have said theyd advertise tournament in local game shops aswell.

Everyone needs to pull together to get this thing sorted =)

edit : Heard from more people that are interested aswell. Looks like there should be a decent turnout.

Ah crap yeah Reading. I always thought it was like the 24th -26th, hmm my bad. The tournament looks like it'll be only one day though. Early Spet weekend is okay except it may not be conveniant for some people ie they may have gone back to school. If they haven't / don't care if they have then early Sept maybe okay.

I had no idea there were this many people around here, If anyone wants to play some time, not neccessarily this (but this too of course) then hit me up on msn or something. My housemate, who has stopped playing lately might come to this now there is a scene he is willing to travel to (wasn't keen on going up to Scotland), hopefully when I get back to the UK I can get more people interested.

3rd/4th sep is great, but so sorry will not really be able to help out with a venue.
i might be able to put a couple of ppl up for the night but that is only if i get my place sorted before then which is more than probable.
Kone ull have prioity since ur coming down from newcastle. not that ill have much space to swing a cat...

I can definetly bring a gamecube and will try my hardest in seeing if i cant get a t.v. for the tourne. i have the copy of the game 4 controllers in all although only two of them are in perfect condition. if i have any updates on t.v.s ill be sure to put it up.

just a few things:
why is hyrule, great bay,mushroom kingdom2, and yoshis island banned?
and i like game and watch stage but can understand why it should be banned.
also i dont like the idea of just going on percentages, if time runs out and players have same number of lives it should go to sudden death.

this will be my first tourne so feel free to disregard my comments as im sure the tournement will be a lot of fun anyways and look forward to seein u guys in september, just remember to practise... ;) i fu*kin well need to.
