We all follow instinct when we're really close up, but sometimes I feel a little unsure of how to approach characters.. post approaching strategies. Dont say really obvious ones like "WD BACK THEN FORWARD AND DOWN SMASH."
Generally, If I don't know, I do a jumping fire ball over their head then run in since they wont jump.

Well, in general, my main idea is to waveshield in (then super jump punch), but thats rather obvious.
I suppose the luigi Cyclone might work because of its horizontal distance. Another idea is, perhaps shffled nairs or fairs? (nairs, fairs have bit too much lag).
I like the nair approach (i use it with link, doc and mario). run up, then shffl a nair out. This is generally easy to see, but at times can put on pressure.
Green missle. Just no, it should be used primarily as a horizontal recovery.
I like Luigi's air game alot, so i may use something to trick them up, then play in the air.
Generally, most things will include the WD.
I used to roll a lot but that doesn't work because your just gonna get attacked right after the roll. I can't really explain what I do but, I'll wavedash and if it looks like your gonna block or hit me with a low attack, I'll short hop sex kick or Dair. Like I said I can't really say much since its haard for me to explain myself

My friends strategy - Uses a whole lot of aerial attacks to get close, because Luigi has such good potential in the air, he takes advantage of that. In the air, since priority does not matter, only hitboxes, Luigi's swift attacks might get a disadvantage though, so watch your opponents like Marth. Wavedashing could help, but you must have a great mind game set in order to get in for that hit. I still say that if you time your aerial correctly (ADA, AFA, N-airs) then you can get to your opponent very well and possibly get some hits in, this is how my friends ALWAYS seems to hit me. The Luigi cyclone isn't bad, it has huge priority and almost always seems to "clank" with other attacks unless hit from a top. Throw some fireballs while you go to your opponent as well, might force them into the air where Luigi rules. Remember that Luigi can attack twice in a short hop, so that can help the aerial attacks too.
EDIT: I remember that my friend actually combos the fireball into a jump cancelled Up Smash. Since Luigi traction is horrible and he goes sliding like 3 m with a dash, try jump cancelling his up smash and crouch cancelling his down smash. If you time it right, that up smash combo is very nice and can be followed up pretty well.
Yeah Luigi can do a lot of damage when he is in the air. One problem is that its hard for me to fight a Marth, its like I want to get close but the sword just keeps knocking me away

Yea, I'd have to agree with you guys. Luigi totally owns the air, at least most of the time. Gotta love his chops and kicks! I don't like fighting Marth either, unfortunately Marth has that added range with his sword and he's a fast character as well. I've been working on this technique where I come in from the air and use Luigi's down spiral kick to drill the person into the ground, then as theyre recovering from that down kick, I usually use the C-stick down to do Luigi's down smash. I just repeat that. It works pretty well if you can spike the person down while you're doing the down spiral kick instead of knocking them up a little.
Besides that, I usually do jumps and karate chop people if they try to jump in the air to battle me. Other than that, I do alot of down spiral kicks and I tend to do the tornado alot. I don't really do the fire uppercuts much but I do use Luigi's missle to come back, or just once in a while just against an enemy. I definitely love it when it misfires on a recovery or just against an enemy, because they usually get hit with it and it's pretty much a sure kill if their percent is high enough :D

If you don't fire cut much, try Waveshielding in then doing it, its quite useful. Yes, the dair is powerful, so is the fair, AND his sex kick is amazing. One of the best sex kicks there is.
does enny one kn ow if it is esyer to use luigis hurcane for recovery in pal versen?
