What are some good mind games with falco?

Argh, not another mind game post!!!

Sorry, I just wrote 5 paragraphs to someone who wanted to know what I thought mindgames were. It's in Melee Discussion if someone wants to read it...

OK, trying to get to much credit there.

Mindgames? Hmmm... I used to play as Falco. Definately SHL. That's a kind of mindgame, right? Although it is fighting, it really annoys people and throws them off their game. That's a good one.

You chose a tough subject. Most people think almost opposites with mind games. It's a really hard idea to pin down.

Um, that's all I have. Sorry, the only other ones I can think of are to fake out, dash dance and pretend to attack but don't. But those might not be too effective.

Thanks. I never thought of SHL as a mind game but i am sure you know more with falco than i do.

Don't give me too much credit. I play Fox now, not Falco.

Since I don't know much about mind games, I'll just go over SHL.

SHL is just purely annoying, yet powerful. Although it only deals 3% at most, its all mighty ability to stop all opponent movement is far too powerful. How would you like it if every time you tried to attack, a Falco would just cancel your attack with an SHL and then combo you off the edge? After a while, you would be annoyed and furious. With those emotions in play, you think less and button mash more, creating a less worthy adversary for your opponent to dominate. Of course, that's at a best situation, but I'm sure you understand. By using the SHL to render your opponents useless for a small factor of time and following it up, you are slowly chipping away at their mental defense and making them angry. Of course, this is all behind the scenes. And situational. Most of the time people will just brush it off and keep playing. So don't think of it too much as a mind game. Just use it.

I wish I could get some solid mind games, other than the obvious ones. I am sorry about my inadequacy to give mind games. But hopefully I explained SHL enough.

- Dash Dance
- Charge at them and Wavedash backwards then foward smash
- When they are coming back from edge u can grab the edge like edgehogging then jump up and spike them.
- Their up+b move into the ground towards the enemy and downsmash.

Mindgames arent something you can discuss on a forum. Its purely situational and depends on your opponent. A mind game would be something like SHLing all over the place and playing agressivly then stoping and waiting for them to come to you then doing a simple Fsmash then going back to agressive again. Just simply switch your game up many times during the match. That is, in essence, what a mind game is.

With Crimson's idea of being unpredictable as a mindgame and constantly changing your play style, try for firebird KO's every now and then!!! Falco's up b may not burn during the chargeup like fox's does, but it does have enough knockback to easily KO someone over the top towards higher percentages when they are above you.

I think some good ways to use mindgames for every character is to be predictable for a little bit and then switch. What I'm saying is to spam F-smash for awhile and when your opponent realizes what you are doing and starts to shield the f-smash you switch it up and do something else, like a d-tilt under his shield. I believe mind games are kind of making your opponent a puppet, and forcing him to do what you want to give you the advantage.

Kadiev named one of my favorites. If the opponent is staying still or you want to run at them, start running, and when you are about in range of their attack, wavedash backwards right before they attack, then after they attack use the lag time they have and smash them. You can either run in or wavedash in, it doesn't matter too much. It's lots of fun to use.

well depending on how good you are you are at wd'ing you could really abuse it. like i always hear people say like "oh wd back and hit them with a smash" and yeh that works but there is so much more to it. but you have to be extremely comfortable with it. it has to be second nature. i mean instead of waiting for them to attack or running in and doing 1 wd back you should be wd'ing the whole time. even if your opponen is not close just mess with him and wd around and slowly approach him while wd'ing and dash dancing.it's like a lot of the people just wait for like 1 or 2 situations where they can use the wd when you should always be doing it. that way it throws your opponent off and you dont always know when they are going to attack. i had to learn that the hard way at mlg when i barely wd'ed but i learned to wd like it was my religion. anyway besides wd'ing a lot i have aother little rick to mg the opponent. what you do is, when your really close to them them just run away from them. a lot of time they will run after then sh and turn around and shoot them. most of the times they are not going to be expecting this and it works beautifly. but you have to be careful that you dont do an illusion instead. till next time.
